We’ve recently been found smashing our way through Dawn of the Monsters, destroying anything and everything that may have got in our path. Very soon though we’ll be looking to continue that destruction as Gigapocalypse brings even more Kaiju-themed chaos, and some cute little Tamagotchi mini-games, to consoles.
Due to arrive on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch come June 2nd 2022, Gigapocalypse is a retro-inspired side scrolling city-smasher that comes from the headup Games and Goody Gameworks teams.
Inspired by the finest Kaiju monster movies like Godzilla and King Kong, as well as some of the best gaming classics like Rampage, Gigapocalypse gives players a roster of monsters – Gigas – to choose from as they reduce cities to rubble to the beat of a pumping heavy metal soundtrack as they create their own monster apocalypse!
Each ane every run you undertake will see you attempting to get to each location’s boss, as your Giga will become more powerful and earn mutation points. Spend these points to upgrade your Giga with new mutations, skills, skins, and even up to five tiny minion pets who will accompany you on your outings of urban destruction. You will however need to take a little bit of care of your Giga, playing through some Tamagotchi-style minigames and decorating your Giga’s home with cool items that will improve your Giga and make them even more menacing.
Offering up nine monsters to choose from – three ‘Old Gods’, three prehistoric monstrosities and three horrors from outer space, when Gigapocalypse arrives on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch, you can take these beasts of destruction into a host of fun city locations from across multiple timelines, ranging from the Wild West to the modern day.
“It’s been great to see the positive reactions to Gigapocalypse as we’ve added more and more to it throughout the game’s time in Early Access on PC,” said developer Goody Pundit. “With the many updates and improvements we’ve made, the game is better than ever and I hope console players are looking forward to picking a Giga and laying waste to everything in front of them!”
Get set for that June 2nd 2022 release of Gigapocalypse. We’ll be sure to let you know when the Kaiju chaos is ready to take place.
