It’s worth noting from the outset that Gnardo Back Home is not playable on Xbox consoles, instead launching exclusively for Windows PC and compatible handheld gaming devices via the Xbox ecosystem. You know, the ROG Ally X and the like.

Gnardo Back Home is built around classic precision platforming, where success comes from careful movement, accurate timing and learning from your mistakes.
Unsurprisingly, you play as Gnardo, a permanently unimpressed old man whose only goal is reaching his house. Standing in his way are 40 handcrafted levels filled with hazards that steadily introduce new mechanics without ever stopping to explain them. Instead, the game lets players figure things out naturally as each challenge unfolds.
That means you’ll soon be dealing with spikes, collapsing platforms, hidden floors, locked doors, switches and increasingly demanding obstacle layouts. You should know the deal if you’ve ever picked up a controller…
Dash, Dodge And Don’t Panic
One mechanic sits at the centre of the experience – an always-available dash.
Players looking for a more relaxed pace can carefully line up every movement before committing, while speedrunners and platforming veterans can chain jumps and dashes together to fly through levels with impressive precision.
Optional coins are scattered throughout each stage too, rewarding those willing to take riskier routes in search of full completion.
There’s no sprawling story or complicated progression system here. Gnardo Back Home knows exactly what it wants to be – a focused precision platformer that gradually raises the difficulty while introducing fresh obstacles along the way.
