EcoGnomix – out now on Xbox and PlayStation

Get ready for a quirky genre mashup! EcoGnomix is on Xbox and PlayStation.

EcoGnomix, the charming hybrid that blends cozy city building with strategic roguelite mining, has launched on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

Having already found “ample success” and “Mostly Positive” reviews on PC and Nintendo Switch, this unique title from developer Irox Games and publisher Untold Tales now brings its gnome-filled adventures to a wider console audience.

Priced around ÂŁ16.74 / $19.99 USD (depending on where you buy), EcoGnomix offers a unique gameplay loop.

Above ground, you nurture a thriving gnome village. Below ground, you send specialised gnome teams on dangerous, turn-based roguelite expeditions into mystical caves to gather vital resources.

Build Your Village, Brave the Depths

The two halves of EcoGnomix feed into each other:

  • Cozy City Building (Surface): Construct new buildings, establish production chains for valuable resources, research upgrades, unlock new abilities, and build up a tiny economy – all designed to support your underground expeditions.
  • Strategic Roguelite Runs (Underground): Assemble a team of specialist gnomes, each with their own skills. Deploy them strategically on a hex grid each turn to gather resources and battle bizarre creatures and hostile vegetation. Reposition your entire team at the end of your turn, call in reinforcements if needed, but beware – the caves become more unstable, and ravenous bats deplete your supplies with every passing turn! Knowing when to push deeper for greater rewards versus retreating safely with your haul is key.

Adapt Your Team, Progress Every Run

No two expeditions are the same. EcoGnomix encourages tactical flexibility:

  • Adaptable Teams: Swap different gnome specialists in and out based on the challenges and resources you anticipate.
  • Synergistic Upgrades: Assign game-changing upgrades that combine in unexpected and powerful ways.
  • Hidden Abilities: Discover secret skills for certain gnomes.
  • Permanent Progress: Even if a run ends prematurely, you’ll always return to your village with resources to fuel further expansion and make future runs easier.

Acclaimed Strategy Arrives on Console

Having already charmed players on PC and Switch with its laid-back (yet strategic) gameplay loop free from time pressure, EcoGnomix is now set to find a new audience on Xbox and PlayStation consoles starting today.

Key Features

  • Unique Genre Hybrid: Combines cozy city building with roguelite turn-based strategy/mining.
  • Dual Gameplay Loops: Build your village above, lead expeditions below.
  • Strategic Turn-Based Runs: Deploy specialised gnomes, manage resources, fight foes, deal with hazards.
  • Deep Team Customisation: Adapt your gnome squad with specialists, upgrades, and hidden abilities.
  • Permanent Progression: Resources gathered fuel village growth, aiding future runs.

Ready to Lead Your Gnomes?

EcoGnomix offers a truly distinct blend of genres, mixing cozy village management with tense, strategic underground expeditions.

If you enjoy roguelites, city builders, or just charming games with surprising depth, it’s available right now on the Xbox Store (and PlayStation Store).

Gather your resources, build your village, and start your expedition today. Our full review is fast incoming.

EcoGnomix Description

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
