Go all out with War Thunder’s Operation S.U.M.M.E.R and unlock rare premium tanks

Summer is here and Gaijin Entertainment are embracing it more than most – by delivering a two-week long event that will see all War Thunder players getting access to two rare premium tanks.

Operation S.U.M.M.E.R. 2018 kicks off in War Thunder today and will be found running until August 5th 2018. But why should you get involved? Well, by taking part and playing the game you’ll find yourself unlocking two rare, premium, tanks – the medium T034E and the super heavy IS-7. What’s more, there will be plenty of other prizes too – boosters, skins, decoration, decals and more will all be given away.

There is a catch to all this though – in order to get the rare tanks, players will have to show some real craftsmanship, given that they’ll have to construct them themselves.

This will be done by completing special tasks and taking part in battles, receiving blueprints and resources useful for tank construction. It will be with these in which you will find yourself crafting the various components of the tank you want to build, such as the main cannon, chassis, turret and more. Knowledge of the vehicle in question will be key; from the multiple options available to combine parts to components, only one will lead to success.

Sometimes, finding the right option to go with can be pretty obvious – a tank gun certainly doesn’t need two muzzle brakes for one barrel, for example. While constructing other parts, you will have to delve a bit deeper into your tank and War Thunder knowledge – What shapes do the hatches on the IS-7’s turret have? How many shock absorbers are there for each track?

If you are not interested in the T-34E and the hassle of crafting, then you can exchange the vehicle voucher you receive for completing the crafting process for a voucher granting one of three premium vehicles – the German Sd.Kfz. 234/4, the U.S. M8 Greyhound or the British AEC Mk.II.

With War Thunder being a free-to-play cross-platform massively multiplayer military masterpiece with millions of fans worldwide, there really is little to stop you wanting to get involved. The fact that it brings together players across platforms, delivering more than 1000 vehicles from around the globe, just cements that fact.

Make sure you get yourself ready and take in Operation S.U.M.M.E.R 2018 right now.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
