God Bless, or Goddess – A Live-Action Fantasy Where Love Threatens Immortal Ascension

The road to immortality is rarely straightforward, but God bless, or Goddess ensures it’s also packed with temptation, thunder, and emotional chaos.

Now launching on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, handheld devices, and Xbox Play Anywhere, this live-action FMV adventure blends Chinese myth, romance, and humour into a cinematic experience where every choice threatens to derail your ascension.

Developed by RIZE Entertainment and published by NiuGamer, this is a narrative-driven title that leans hard into personality, player agency, and the age-old question: enlightenment… or love?

An Immortal’s Journey Through Desire And Destiny

In God bless, or Goddess, you step into the role of Lin Fan, the chosen disciple of the Crane Illusion Sect. Born with a rare Pure Yang Lineage, Lin Fan is destined to transcend the mortal realm. Unfortunately, fate has other ideas – and most of them involve dangerously charming women determined to test more than your combat skills.

Rather than focusing on traditional combat systems, God bless, or Goddess frames its challenge around relationships, decisions, and emotional endurance. Seven women, each with their own personality, agenda, and temptations, stand between you and ascension.

Your unreliable master, a jealous senior sister, and a saintess with unsettling intentions all push and pull at your Dao heart. Whether you remain disciplined or give in to desire shapes the story’s direction – and its ending.

Live-Action FMV With A Mythic Twist

This is a cinematic live-action FMV experience, blending real actors with xianxia-inspired visual effects. Lightning crashes across the screen, supernatural energy crackles through the air, and moments of comedy sit alongside dramatic confrontations.

Everything unfolds from a first-person viewpoint, pulling you directly into Lin Fan’s dilemma. Conversations, glances, and quick-time decisions feel intimate, placing the weight of every choice squarely on your shoulders.

Expect:

  • Branching dialogue paths with meaningful consequences
  • Multiple endings shaped by emotional and moral decisions
  • Quick-time events tied to training, duels, and tribulations
  • A mix of humour, romance, and supernatural absurdity
  • Choice, Chaos, And Consequence

God bless, or Goddess thrives on replayability. Every decision can send your journey spiralling in a new direction, whether that’s enlightenment, downfall, or something far messier in between.

Surviving heavenly tribulation isn’t just about reflexes – it’s about restraint. Protecting your Divine Essence becomes a recurring theme, both mechanically and narratively, reinforcing the idea that power always comes at a price.

From The Publisher Behind Love Is All Around

Fans of FMV storytelling may recognise NiuGamer as the publisher behind Love is All Around, a title we reviewed back in 2024, awarding it a 4/5 score. We said at the time:

“Love is All Around is a pleasantly surprising romance-fuelled FMV that is likely to win your heart… The situations are interesting, the women are beautiful, and the decisions matter.”

God Bless, Or Goddess At A Glance

  • Live-action FMV adventure with cinematic presentation
  • Chinese myth-inspired xianxia fantasy setting
  • First-person narrative driven by player choice
  • Multiple branching paths and endings
  • Romance, humour, and supernatural drama
  • Available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, handheld, and Play Anywhere

Enlightenment Or Emotional Ruin Awaits

God bless, or Goddess via the Xbox Store isn’t about min-maxing stats or mastering combat systems. Instead, it asks whether discipline can truly survive temptation – and whether immortality is worth the personal cost.

For players who enjoy FMV experiences, branching narratives, and romance-driven storytelling wrapped in a striking mythological theme, this is a journey well worth embarking on… even if your Dao heart doesn’t make it out intact.

It’s just a shame that God Bless, or Goddess isn’t available as part of the Game Pass subscription at launch.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
