It may have been pushed back by a year but the latest iteration of the Olympic Games is fast approaching. And you know what that means? A video game tie-in of course! Are you ready to go for gold with Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game?

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadia, Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 gives players the chance to compete in a host of events, proving once and for all that they are at the very top of their game.

It’s priced at £34.99 and for that cash outlay you’ll find the opportunity to show off your skills in no less than 18 of the finest Olympic sports. The track-based staples of 100m, 4x100m Relay and 110m Hurdles are in place, and heading to the inner field you’ll find the chance to partake in a bit of Hammer Throw, Long Jump and Baseball.

Court based options in terms of Basketball and Beach Volleyball will cover the bases for those looking to pull of a dunk or dink, whilst the hard hitting Boxing, Judo and Rugby Sevens are also here. You can also partake in a bit of BMXing, Table Tennis, standard Tennis, Sport Climbing or even football, whilst those preferring to hit the water will discover that this officially licensed Olympic Games game brings in some swimming action with both the 100m Freestyle and 200m Individual Medley.

If you’re looking to pursue your dreams, then Olympic Games 2020 is a world away from the likes of previous Olympic options in the brilliantly fun Sonic and Mario from a few years back, or even STEEP’s Road to the Olympics.

That’s not to say this is a standard staid affair though and with a robust Avatar Creator and more than 100 wardrobe options, you’ll be able to inject some proper odd fun into the Olympic Games with this Tokyo 2020 version. Throw in 8-player multiplayer, Ranked Games and global leaderboards to go chasing and pushing yourself for gold may never have been so good. We’ll find out for sure when our full review of Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 on Xbox in the days ahead.
