Grab a slice-of-life with the delicate and emotional A Space For The Unbound

There’s possibly nothing as relaxing in the gaming sphere as the opportunity to kick back with a delicate, emotional little slice-of-life adventure, one that caresses the player, telling a tale as it goes. That’s something which is promised in A Space For The Unbound.

First announced back in 2020, with plans of a 2021 release, this spends its time focusing on two high-school sweethearts with supernatural powers. A Space For The Unbound has been put together by the Mojiken Studio, before seeing them team up with the ever prolific Chorus Worldwide. Taking some supernatural Life is Strange-styled human powers, this is a game that will let you follow along as the friends try to work out what is best for them.

Told through pixel art and richly detailed environments, A Space For The Unbound allows the player to go deep into these powers, diving into the hearts of locals as they take in the anxieties of others. It promises to be a deep affair, one that, if you take our review as read, comes complete with some top notch writing and characters, as well as a narrative that just continues to build.

This is a rich story, one that is well worth taking in, and whilst you should be aware that occasionally the subject matters it touches on gets more than a little sensitive, covering bullying, abuse and more, it’s all been put together really rather well indeed.

Should you be intrigued by what A Space For The Unbound is able to tell, then we’d suggest you hit up the trailer first. Give that a watch and if you’re liking what you see, then head over to the Xbox Store and take home a download of A Space For The Unbound on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Alternatively, PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch versions should also be available. Expect to pay around £17.99.

Game Description:

A Space For The Unbound is a slice-of-life adventure game with beautiful pixel art set in the late 90s rural Indonesia that tells a story about overcoming anxiety, depression, and the relationship between a boy and a girl with supernatural powers. Follow two high school sweethearts, Atma and Raya, on a journey of self-discovery at the end of their high school years. When a mysteriously supernatural power is suddenly unleashed threatening their existence, they must explore and investigate their town to uncover hidden secrets, face the end of the world, and perhaps learn more about each other. Set in a small town inspired by 90s era rural Indonesia, A Space for The Unbound presents an endearing story-driven experience with a vibrant environment waiting to be explored.
