Gridz Keeper
Gridz Keeper – out now on PC and console

Gridz Keeper arrives with a simple but intriguing premise – in a world overrun by the undead, electricity might be humanity’s last hope.

Now launching on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC (with Play Anywhere), PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, this compact action-puzzler tasks players with restoring broken power grids one generator at a time, all while the apocalypse looms in the background.

Developed by Eastasiasoft and Double Mizzlee, Gridz Keeper blends logic puzzles with light action elements, delivering a focused experience built around mastering cause-and-effect systems rather than combat.

Powering Humanity One Grid At A Time

The world of Gridz Keeper has gone dark. Cities are silent, safe zones are failing, and you are the last repair technician capable of bringing power back online. Armed with nothing more than a wrench and your wits, each level challenges you to activate every generator on the grid before moving forward.

The twist lies in how power flows. Flip one switch and adjacent generators respond, sometimes helping, sometimes undoing your hard work. Success depends on learning these chain reactions, planning ahead, and accepting that trial and error is part of the process.

Across 50 handcrafted stages, Gridz Keeper steadily increases the complexity of its puzzles. Early levels ease you in, but later grids demand careful sequencing and patience as the web of interlinked generators becomes harder to untangle.

Features That Define Gridz Keeper

  • 50 puzzle-focused stages to complete
  • Generator-based puzzles built on chain reactions
  • Simple controls using a repair wrench
  • Gradually increasing difficulty curve
  • Unlimited retries with no penalties
  • Designed for short, focused play sessions

A Launch Framed By A Mixed Reception

Gridz Keeper launches with a clear identity, but it is also worth acknowledging how it has been received. In our 2/5 review, we noted that while the concept may appeal to a niche audience, it struggles to fully capitalise on its ideas:

There might be someone who adores these puzzles and painstakingly solves them in the shortest number of moves possible. But we haven’t met them, and Gridz Keeper does a disappointing job of serving them anyway. For anyone else, Gridz Keeper is 25-minutes of random lever pulling and the odd jolt of satisfaction when a puzzle is solved. If we’re honest, we’d rather spend that time head-shotting undead hordes in a more conventional zombie game.

That perspective frames Gridz Keeper as a title best suited to players who enjoy abstract logic challenges rather than those seeking traditional zombie action.

Watch Gridz Keeper In Action

For those curious about how the puzzle mechanics play out, the official launch trailer offers a clear look at the game’s structure and visual style:

A Niche Puzzle Experience In A Crowded Apocalypse

While it may not convert players looking for fast-paced zombie combat, Gridz Keeper stands as an option for those who prefer flicking switches over pulling triggers. In a genre crowded with chaos, sometimes the quiet challenge of restoring the lights is enough – even if the undead are still waiting in the dark.

You’ll find Gridz Keeper on the usual digital storefronts. The Xbox Store will sort you out on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and through Play Anywhere. Alternatively, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch players should visit their own favoured stores.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
