Grow with Shape of the World on Xbox One

-

Walking simulators, or first person explorers if you would prefer, are slowly taking over the world as developers deliver dream like worlds full of exploration opportunities without the worry of something jumping out from the nearest corner with the express intention of taking our heads off. After a hard day at work, there is nothing better than kicking back with controller in hand and the chance to head into an immersive world full of grace. And that’s exactly what you’ll be doing with Shape of the World.

Having released on PS4 and PC yesterday, it is now the turn of Xbox One and Nintendo Switch owners to get in on the stunning visuals of Shape of the World, watching in awe as the world around you grows with each and every step.

A super surreal experience that reacts to your presence, you’ll be found heading on in to a journey that takes you through vibrant ecosystems full of colour, as you get lost climbing mountains, flying with whales and travelling to ever stranger lands.

A £12.49 price may seem a lot for a few hours of walking, but the journey you will be taken on promises to be highly memorable. Get over to the Microsoft Store now and get your download in for Shape of the World immediately.

Or, you could hold out for our review. It’ll be with you very soon.

Game features include:

  • First-person explorer: Unwind as you wander at your own pace in surreal environments that beckon you to explore, hinting at distant landmarks and encouraging you to delve deeper into the woods.
  • 4K support: Enjoy the experience in native 4K on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X.
  • Play with an organic and mysterious ecosystem: Interact with graceful animals, ephemeral flora, and intriguing monoliths. Your actions will alter the world you discover in vibrant and unexpected ways, leaving you to wonder what will happen with each new path you forge, each abandoned hollow you stumble upon.
  • A living world: The forest only materializes as you move through it, and regrows anew as you pass through areas you’ve previously explored. The handcrafted world offers you landmarks and familiar terrain to guide you through to the end of your trip.
  • A dynamic soundtrack that responds to the player’s travels: The audio shifts along with the visuals, providing an enveloping aural experience to match your psychedelic journey and amplify your immersion. An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
