Die For Valhalla! is a 2D rogue-lite arcade beat ‘em up which sees you help the Vikings in the role of a Valkyrie. Experience a lighthearted tale that often breaks the fourth wall, making fun of both games and Vikings along the way. The Great Old One is the antagonist plotting to take over the strange land which plays host to a collision between Norse mythology and Lovecraftian mythos.
To enable you to save the realm, you’ll have access to a possession mechanic, allowing the ability to take control of heroes and monsters alike. There are ten different Viking Clans to discover and these give special bonuses, whilst the seven Viking classes included each have their own unique play styles and combos. Should you die, permadeath is present in the rogue-lite version of the story mode for those who like it hardcore, but fear not, because there’s a more relaxed difficulty to settle down with in the form of the beat ‘em up mode.
Hacking and slashing in the name of the Vikings in Die For Valhalla! will only set you back £9.59 on Xbox One (launch discount lets you get in for £7.67), by purchasing it on the Microsoft Store. Gamers who prefer to play on other platforms are sorted too, with it releasing simultaneously today on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC as well.

Die for Valhalla! is an action RPG where you hack, slash and crush your enemies! Possess and take full control of heroes, monsters and other things to help Vikings save their realm! You are a Valkyrie, from Old Norse valkyrja “chooser of the slain”. You embark on a quest that will lead you through strange lands where Norse Mythology collides with Lovecraftian mythos. Sounds Weird? Well, because it is! You can play solo or with friends locally (up to 4 players). Two ways to enjoy the story: There are two story modes in the game: Beat ‘Em Up and Rogue-lite. Beat ‘Em Up mode procedurally generates a larger world to explore with a more relaxed difficulty curve. You can revive your friends and the potions you find have useful or hilarious effects (or both). Rogue-lite mode generates a smaller world featuring steeper difficulty curve and permadeath. Some of the potions you find have malicious effects and you have to learn which ones to avoid in each run.
