After years of lurking in the shadows, Haunted House Renovator has finally materialised on Xbox Series X|S, inviting players to roll up their sleeves, grab a spirit net, and get to work on some truly troublesome properties.
Available now for ÂŁ16.74, this is renovation with a paranormal twist – and yes, the ghosts absolutely refuse to leave quietly.
First revealed all the way back in 2022, when we confidently declared we ain’t afraid of no ghosts, the concept has now become reality. And it turns out that fixing up a haunted house involves far more than a fresh coat of paint.
Renovation Meets Exorcism
In Haunted House Renovator, you play as a specialist contractor taking on jobs that no one else wants. These aren’t just old houses with bad wiring – they’re crawling with paranormal activity, strange noises, and entities that would very much prefer you didn’t touch their wallpaper.
Each contract tasks you with restoring a haunted building to a liveable state. That means improving its appearance, convincing the owners it’s safe, and most importantly, dealing with whatever supernatural presence is making life miserable.
Ghosts Don’t Fix Themselves
Hauntings come in many forms, and so do the solutions. Sometimes it’s as simple as trapping an entity with the right tool. Other times, you’ll need to break out ritual circles, perform unsettling ceremonies, or make a moral call between being nice… or being very mean.
The game encourages different approaches, rewarding players based on how they handle each haunting. And yes, in some cases, you can even adopt certain ghosts instead of banishing them.
A Toolbox Built For The Supernatural
Before heading into a job, preparation is key. Scouting locations, identifying paranormal activity, and selecting the right equipment all play a role in how smoothly a renovation goes. No two properties behave quite the same, keeping each contract feeling distinct.
Once the spirits are dealt with, it’s time to make the place look presentable. Wallpaper, paint, furniture – it all matters when convincing clients that their house is no longer possessed by something from beyond the veil. Interior design is just as important as ghost-hunting if you want happy customers and better rewards.
