Achoo! Are you ready to grab the nose spray and fight back against the evil allergies? In Hayfever you’ll be found battling the worst of effects, all as you attempt to partake in some pixel perfect precision platforming.
Available right now on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC, Hayfever comes from the developmental minds of Pixadome as we attempt to help the most allergic mailman of all time complete his round.
Price at £12.49, Hayfever throws us into the boots of young Thomas, a simple mailman trying to complete his simple post-round. The problem is Thomas is rather allergic to the world around him and this is fast becoming a weakness. Thankfully, he finds it within himself to turn things around and ensure that the terrible allergies that afflict him can become a strength – and it is here where you’ll begin to harness Thomas’ powers.
Making the most of different allergens is the name of the game here with Hayfever and you’ll find Thomas propelling himself around the world thanks to the power of a simple sneeze, whilst the smog from the roughest lands will see him swell up like a balloon.
With a multitude of affects to utilise, some 140 levels to work through and no less than 240 fun little collectibles to gather up, there’s certainly plenty of promise for this hayfever-ridden postie. And what’s more, if speedrunning is your thing, Hayfever has got your back.
Our full review of Hayfever on Xbox One is currently in the works and will be with you fairly soon. If you’re up for taking a punt though then we advise you hit up the Xbox Store and download it right now. Of course, if you’re one of the many who prefer to play on Nintendo Switch, PS4 or PC, then the other digital stores in place will no doubt happily sort you out.
Game Description:
Help Thomas the Allergic Mailman gather all his lost letters in this challenging and unique 2D platformer! In Hayfever, the player takes control of Thomas – a young postman with a strong work ethic. There is just one tiny little issue… Thomas suffers from terrible (and we mean TERRIBLE) allergies. It is up to the player to use Thomas’s allergies to help him traverse a dangerous world, turning his weaknesses into strengths! Different allergens have different effects on Thomas – radically changing how he interacts with the world. Regular pollen allows him to build up a big sneeze to propel himself through the air. Smog, on the other hand, makes him swell up like a balloon. Peanuts… Well, peanuts are a WHOLE other story.
