Train Sim World, as a series, has been able to give railway fans the globe over the chance to travel the world. Today though Train Sim World 3 dips into the past, whisking us off to a small Derbyshire line that focuses on the steamy joys of the Peak Forest.

Available to purchase and download right now, adding in to the Train Sim World 3 base game you have in your library, is the Train Sim World 3: Peak Forest Railway: Ambergate – Chinley & Buxton line, as Dovetail Games breathe new life into an old 1960’s steam-filled world.

Present and correct should you find it within yourself to splash the £29.99 asking price, the Train Sim World 3: Peak Forest Railway: Ambergate – Chinley & Buxton add-on reconnects a line to ensure players get the chance to travel through Matlock and onto Hassop, Buxton and Chapel-en-le-Frith. It’s something that you’ll struggle to do in real-life, as today that railway is split into various uses; an extant passenger branch line to a heritage railway, a footpath and cycle track and parts of a dedicated freight line.

The new pack also includes some new gear and running on the route is a new addition to the Train Sim World steam fleet, the LMS Fowler Class 4F. This locomotive, of which only three remain in preservation, represents the fading light of the steam era in Derbyshire. Banking operations appear in game, a unique feature for this route, helping the heavy limestone trains formed of ICI Hopper Wagons.

Also included in this Peak Forest Railway addition are the LMS Jubilee, LMS Stanier 8F, Mk1 Coaches, freight wagons and 20t Brake Van from Train Sim World’s first steam focused route: Spirit of Steam.

If you fancy taking in something a little different in Train Sim World 3, then the addition of the Peak Forest Railway: Ambergate – Chinley & Buxton should well be it. You’ll find it on the Xbox Store for Xbox one and Xbox Series X|S, as well as on PlayStation and PC.

Will you be taking a trip into the past?

Train Sim World 3 is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC.

DLC Description:

The romantic steam era returns to Train Sim World with the introduction of the iconic Fowler 4F. Built in Derby and dating back to the early 1920s, this prolific fleet of locomotives were designed for mid-ranged freight work by Henry Fowler of the LMS railway. With 575 produced, but only a handful surviving into preservation, rekindle the flames of this workhorse 0-6-0 tender legend. Tackle challenging loads; hefty ICI Limestone Hoppers, local and long-distance passenger trains all await haulage through the picturesque Peak District. Go to battle with banking locomotives and double-heading to conquer the steep gradients which blast through the English countryside. From the intricately detailed stations of the British Railways era to the largest Limestone quarry in Europe, every mile and chain is recreated in nostalgic detail. Embark on all-new steam journeys in Train Sim World 3!
