Head back to the root of all horror as the monstrosities of Syndrome arrive on Xbox One

-

We’ve all been there before – waking up on a spaceship, not knowing where, why or how we got there, before stumbling around and heading out on the search for companions. But what do we find instead? The most horrific monstrosities imaginable.

Might as well do it all over again in Syndrome then eh!?

Syndrome has arrived on Xbox One, at least in the North American region, and with a price point of just $29.99, there doesn’t look to be many cheaper ways to get that horror fix.

With the action taking place on board the claustrophobic corridors of the SPS Valkenburg, a deep space exploration and science ship, Syndrome will force multiple physical and psychologic sci-fi threats your way, as you attempt to use stealth and evasion to explore the desolate spaceship and unravel the catastrophic events that led to its demise. As always though – or at least as it always seems to be with these horror titles – things won’t be easy and you’lll find some absolutely horrific enemies coming your way. Just be grateful us Xbox One owners don’t get the chance to play through things in VR!

“Syndrome places you in a living hell aboard a deserted spaceship, with only stealth and your intuition to guide you as you start to find the bodies of dead crewmen”, said Paulo J. Games, Game Director of Bigmoon Entertainment. “Be warned, as hardcore horror genre fans, we made sure the experience is truly terrifying – especially on VR – so give it a try and see for yourselves, if you dare.”

The Xbox Games Store awaits, and as soon as we see the game rock up in the UK (we’ve got a feeling that may well be happening come the 6th Oct), we’ll be sure to let you know.

Game Description:

You wake up on a spaceship, dazed and confused from the effects of cryosleep, and begin to search for the rest of the crew. Where could they have gone? All too suddenly, you discover that most of them are dead, and those still alive are… changed. Syndrome takes the genre back to its terrifying roots as players wake up on a deserted spaceship, dazed and confused from a deep cryosleep only to discover that most of the crew are dead or… changed. In the midst of this deeply frightening environment, surrounded by reactive enemies that pick up on every move and sound, players must discover what has happened to the spaceship and how to escape its claustrophobic confines alive. In Syndrome players awaken from a deep slumber to discover a bloodcurdling scene: most of the ship’s crew are dead, but not all. To survive the horror of what is left of the crew, gamers first arm themselves with the few weapons that are scattered about only to discover that ammunition is scarce and not really adequate to deal with the transformed monstrosities lurking in the shadows of the ship reacting violently to every movement and noise. Gamers soon discover that hiding and breathing as noiselessly as possible is the best course of action as they gather resources and learn as much as possible about the enemies’ behavior to both avoid and defeat them. Countless physical and psychological threats await players inside the vessel, forcing them to use weapons and ammo wisely and sparingly, as there is no guarantee that they will find more. Every inch of the ship must be explored to discover its secrets and – most importantly – the secret to make it out alive.
