Head on down to Hope County with Far Cry 5 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC!

2026's Best Games

The day is here: the latest entry into the acclaimed Far Cry series, Far Cry 5, is releasing to the masses. So grab your guns and stock up on grenades as you get ready to travel to Hope County, Montana, USA, to take down the cultist group Eden’s Gate.

If you aren’t too clued up on Ubisoft’s newest title, then Far Cry 5 is an open-world action adventure FPS that will see you, as a customizable deputy sheriff, fight a bloody battle against a powerful cult, and ultimately attempt to arrest ‘The Father’ of the cult..

To do this to your optimum ability, an arsenal of weapons will be necessary to take out outposts and any enemy you come across. These include your basic assault rifles to a baseball bat to cave in the skulls of your foes. But arguably the most exciting feature in Far Cry 5 will be the Guns for Hire/Fangs for Hire system; the former giving you a wide choice of buddies to call in from a sniper to a plane bomber, and the latter introducing some friendly beasts to stick onto enemies (Cheeseburger the Bear and Boomer the Dog are our favourites!).

If you’ve been familiar with the Far Cry scene for a while now then the fifth main installment into the series is a bit of the same gig, but with added weapons, vehicles and companions to utilise in your extensive fight against Eden’s Gate.

If you fancy picking up Far Cry 5, then check it out on the Microsoft Store for £54.99, or pick it up on PS4 or PC also. The Deluxe Edition of the game, whilst more pricey, will see your game infused with new weapons, with the Gold Edition adding more story-experiences for you to enjoy, alongside early access to Far Cry 3 Classic. Should you wish to upgrade your game at a later time, then a standalone Season Pass is also available.

Further to this, the Deluxe Upgrade is available for £7.99, whilst a whole ton of Silver Bar DLC packs range from the Small (£3.99) to the XXL (£39.99), allowing you to unlock extra items, outfits and more.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
