As the real-world F1 season prepares to blast off from the grid, and the official game of the F1 2020 season prepares to roll out of garages near you, Codemasters have dropped a new gameplay video focusing on the hottest of laps around the stunning Red Bull Ring.
It is fast becoming the norm to see Codemasters deliver a little insight into the world of F1 as a race weekend approaches, and that is the case here and now today, as we get taken on a one-way trip to Austria, joining Esteban Ocon and his Renault F1 team on a hot lap of the Red Bull Ring.Â
In place ahead of this weekend’s revised season opener, the video shown below was created by the development team behind F1 2020, showing exactly what F1 2020 can do ahead of its launch in just a few days time.
After running a lap of the Hanoi Circuit and Holland’s Circuit Zandvoort previously, it’s now time for Austria to come to the fore. Created over the course of the 1995 to 1996 winter, this Hermann Tilke designed track took the original fearsome Osterreichring and transformed it into a much shorter, much tighter, much more modern race track, renaming it as the A1-Ring as it.Â
Now owned by the Red Bull company, it is a short circuit, where the first half very much rewards power, as the cars race along three straights separated by a pair of uphill right-handers. As you’ll see in the video, the cars and drivers work their way downhill as things ramp up in pace and the circuit becomes a high speed alpine luge ride, before taking in a series of quick corners and the fast-becoming-iconic exhilarating Rindt right-hander.
F1 2020 arrives on July 10th 2020, unless you are spending big bucks on the stunning Michael Schumacher Deluxe Edition, in which case early access will be yours. Keep an eye out for our full review around that time too – we’ll be telling you whether Codies have got things right, or wrong, with F1 2020 on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Google Stadia in the coming days. For now though, join Esteban Ocon below.
