Following a successful launch and great reception on Nintendo Switch, Italian indie developer Caracal Games and publisher Dear Villagers have announced that their high-speed, open-world action-adventure Star Overdrive is officially heading to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on June 19th 2025.

Star Overdrive invites players to speed through vast alien environments on a high-tech hoverboard, performing incredible tricks, engaging in physics-based combat, solving intricate puzzles, and battling creatures of all sizes.

Star Overdrive promises emergent gameplay built around its core mechanics:

From the Teams Behind Downward and The Forgotten City
Developer Caracal Games, recipient of the IVGA Best Italian Indie Studio award in 2017, has previously worked on titles like Downward and OkunoKA, as well as porting games like Martha is Dead to Switch.
They’re partnering with Dear Villagers, the boutique publisher known for bringing memorable indie games like Fabledom to wider audiences.
