2026's Best Games

Perfectly Paranormal sell themselves as being a team of Norwegian misfits who just want to make fun games – and lots of trouble. And with the upcoming launch of Helheim Hassle on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) later this year, they look ready to deliver on both fronts. Today it is they who are trying to inject some comedic ways into life with a brand new developer commentary video for their game.

If you’re in the market for a macabre narrative adventure game then Helheim Hassle looks set to provide it. Set in the same universe as Perfectly Paranormal’s previous hit – that of the brilliant Manual Samuel – this is a game that talks about friendship just as much as it does about body parts.

In it you will be found playing as Bjørn, a pacifist viking who hates the idea of dying and going to Valhalla (who then ends up dying and getting taken to Valhalla) as he seeks to negotiate his way out while helping the mysterious Pesto on a quest to retrieve a certain magical item… In return, Pesto will try to grant Bjørn a permanent residence in Helheim – what a hassle!

It will be up to you to take part in more than 70 quests set over 14 levels, with them requiring you utilise all manner of different body part combos to complete the game’s unique puzzle platforming challenges. And not just will it be a challenge, but it’ll be one hell of an adventure too as players come into contact with 80 different characters from all walks of life (and death) ranging from frustrated god souls, bear ghosts, dragons, elves, dwarves and blue-collar goblins; all voiced by 24 professional voice actors delivering 3,700 lines of spoken dialogue.

If you wish to know more and reckon Helheim Hassle on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC is going to be up your alley, check out that latest video below. Make sure you keep an eye out for further info from the team at Perfectly Paranormal real soon – in fact we may well have a few secrets to divulge in the days ahead.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
