Some games stay with you long after the credits roll, and Hoa was certainly one of them. Now, years after that quiet and emotional journey first captured players’ hearts, the story is set to continue with Hoa 2.

Hoa 2 has officially been revealed by Skrollcat Studio and PM Studios, bringing a brand-new chapter to the serene puzzle-platforming adventure.

Launching a bit later in 2026 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, the sequel promises a bigger world, deeper exploration and a visual shift that moves the series into full 3D while retaining the hand-painted beauty that defined the original.

And if the reveal is anything to go by, the journey of the little fairy is far from over.

Returning To A World Changed By Time

Hoa 2 begins long after the events of the original game, revisiting the peaceful world players once explored, just with the passage of time leaving its mark.

The story sees Hoa returning to her homeland, only to find it transformed. The friends she once knew are gone, and the world itself has evolved in ways both beautiful and bittersweet. It’s a premise rooted in themes of change, memory and moving forward, continuing the emotional storytelling approach that made the first game resonate so strongly with players.

Rather than simply revisiting the same environments, the sequel aims to present a world that feels familiar yet undeniably altered.

A New Dimension For Hoa

One of the biggest changes coming with Hoa 2 is its shift from a largely 2D experience to a fully realised 3D world.

This evolution allows players to explore environments with greater freedom, uncover hidden secrets and tackle more complex spatial puzzles. Platforming remains central to the experience, but the added depth opens the door to more varied level design and exploration opportunities.

The developers have described the change as a way of reflecting Hoa’s own personal journey, giving the character more room to move and grow within the world.

A World Of Secrets And Gentle Challenges

While Hoa 2 continues the series’ emphasis on calm exploration and visual storytelling, the sequel expands the gameplay formula in several ways.

Players can expect:

  • Environmental puzzles designed around spatial awareness
  • Hidden secrets scattered beyond the main storyline
  • Adorable creatures inhabiting the world
  • Optional minigames and achievements for those who want to dive deeper

All of it unfolds within lush environments crafted with the same hand-painted artistry that made the original game stand out.

A Sequel Built On A Beloved Foundation

When the first Hoa launched back in 2021, it quickly gained attention for its striking visuals and tranquil storytelling. We covered the release at the time, noting just how stunning the hand-drawn presentation was as the game made its way to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC.

According to the team behind the sequel, Hoa 2 represents the studio’s most ambitious project yet, aiming to build upon that foundation while welcoming both returning players and newcomers.

Hoa has gone through a lot, and the world reflects what goes on inside her: freedom to explore with greater openness and mobility, but also a feeling of loss that comes with its own lesson.” said Son Tung Cao, Founder and Game Designer at Skrollcat Studios. “Our task is to reflect this in both gameplay and world-building, and continue to tell Hoa’s story.

Hoa was a milestone for PM Studios, not just in terms of success, but how it connected to players on a deeply emotional level,” said Michael Yum, CEO of PM Studios. “It’s a unique blend of evocative storytelling, breathtaking art and intuitive gameplay that resonated strongly with players. We’re incredibly proud of the impact Hoa had and are proud to continue that journey with Hoa 2.”

A Journey Worth Returning To?

Sequels to smaller indie gems don’t always arrive, especially years after the original release. That’s why the reveal of Hoa 2 feels particularly special. By expanding the world, evolving the gameplay and continuing Hoa’s story, Skrollcat Studio appears determined to deliver a sequel that honours the heart of the original while pushing it forward.

If it can capture the same peaceful atmosphere and emotional storytelling that defined its predecessor, Hoa 2 could once again offer players a quiet, beautiful escape when it launches in 2026.
