Having sat in Steam Early Access for just over a year, the debut title from the British-Swedish Wonderscope Games team and Team17 has now been confirmed for console too, with a release date revealed. That game? Hokko Life.

Hokko Life comes about via Wonderscope Games and the Team17 stable (you know Team17 – Lemmings!), to deliver community life sim vibes to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC. It will be releasing in full on September 27th 2022.

Previously only announced as a PC version, console players will now also be able to get in on the action, as Hokko Life invites players to customise and cultivate their very own cosy community, working with mini-games, chatting with friendly villagers, and utilising the most intricate of design tools, as it all comes together to create a charming environment for players to put their own stamp on.

Having worked the Steam Early Access route, Hokko Life has been regularly expanded with new content and gameplay mechanics including The Farming Update, which added a new area to the game and gave players the opportunity to flex their green fingers, as well as The Village Chic Update, which introduced over 250 new hats, masks, glasses, and other accessories. Further to those is The Super Shopper Update, which allows players to visit a new city centre location, The Narrative Update which overhauled the introduction of the game, and introduced four new friendly villagers to Hokko Life and in more recent times, the Mayor Merits Update which allows players to complete activities in game in exchange for ‘mayor merits’ that unlock perks designed to make life in Hokko a little easier.

It’s a game that has been built on massively since the earliest of Early Access stages, and come September 27th will be found in fully fledged full release on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC.

The key features of Hokko Life that are worth knowing include:

  • Get Creative: The workshop awaits as players take control over every aspect of Hokko, with the 3D design tool, every aspect of a player’s creation can be tailored to perfection
  • Dare to Design: No detail is too small, everything from the colour, fabric, and angle of the pillow on a chair can be edited
  • Sharing is Caring: Players will be able to share their meticulously crafted designs with friends and other players around the world
  • Back of the Net: A lazy afternoon in Hokko can be spent with a net or pole in hand, catching and collecting the critters crawling around town
  • Meet the Neighbours: Hokko’s townsfolk offer a warm welcome, and with varying personalities, they all make for fantastic friends.

You can get involved in Hokko Life via Steam right now. Expect to see it popping up both digitally and physically on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch in September. We’ll remind you when that time comes.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
