Hoomanz
Hoomanz – out now on Xbox

Hoomanz! has quietly crept onto Xbox Series X|S, delivering a charmingly mischievous stealth-adventure that swaps combat for cuddles, chaos, and a whole lot of humour.

Available now for just ÂŁ3.79, this family-friendly title arrives on console following a run on Steam, where it has already picked up a handful of positive impressions.

Set on the wonderfully weird Planet Erf, Hoomanz! casts players as Shoo – a mythical guardian with a serious dislike of hugs and an even stronger desire to protect nature from some very clueless invaders.

Meet Shoo – Guardian Of Planet Erf

At the heart of Hoomanz! is Shoo, a creature of dual nature tasked with defending Planet Erf from the invading Hoomanz. These wide-eyed explorers may look harmless, but their love of light and utter ignorance of the natural balance makes them a real threat.

The twist is that Shoo exists in two very different forms, and knowing when to use each is key to survival.

Dark Shoo is fast, fierce, and genuinely terrifying; this is your go-to form for stalking, scaring, and sending Hoomanz flying off the planet. Meanwhile Light Shoo is slow, vulnerable, adorable… and extremely huggable. Unfortunately, hugs are basically a death sentence.

Darkness is your ally, light is your enemy, and slipping up can lead to Shoo being chased down and squished by overly affectionate invaders.

Stealth, Scares And Zero Combat

Hoomanz! is built entirely around non-combat gameplay. You won’t be fighting enemies head-on. Instead, your goal is to stress Hoomanz out until they panic and flee Planet Erf altogether.

Shoo’s arsenal encourages creativity rather than strict solutions. There’s no single correct way to scare a Hooman, and experimentation is actively rewarded. Tools and tricks include:

  • Luring Hoomanz with a cute but suspicious purr
  • Throwing bottles and snapping twigs to create distractions
  • Sabotaging lights to reclaim the darkness
  • Pulling off frozen yeti jumpscares
  • Dancing around traps and environmental hazards

Every level becomes a playground of playful stealth, letting you decide how best to manipulate your surroundings.

A Game That Knows How To Make You Laugh

Humour is baked into every corner of Hoomanz!. The Hoomanz themselves are a constant source of amusement, whether they’re:

  • Slipping around on ice
  • Attempting to play the banjo
  • Wandering about in underpants
  • Letting out hilariously panicked screams as they flee

It’s a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously, leaning into slapstick comedy, visual gags, and playful sound design. Fair warning though – cuteness aggression may occur.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
