Had enough of Hope County? Need to get out on the road? The Hours of Darkness expansion for Far Cry 4 will see you heading to Vietnam.
Arriving on Xbox One, PS4 and PC come June 5th 2018, Far Cry 5: Hours of Darkness will send you back in time in order to play as Hope Country’s Wendell ‘Red’ Redler, to help him rescue his fellow squad members during the Vietnam War.
War torn Vietnam is the setting for us to play through the harrowing experience of Red as we get to move on from the rural setting of Montana, to a dangerous jungle in which you must find your imprisoned squad mates, wreak havoc on the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army, and fight to get back home.
Hours of Darkness will be available for purchase as either standalone DLC or as part of the Far Cry 5 Season Pass and Gold Edition, delivering new gear, abilities and two different playable modes which will unlock after completing Hours of Darkness. These are the Survivor Mode which gives you a limited load out for a more challenging play through, and the Action Movie Mode which, as you could probably guess, brings tons of over the top action.
Further to this, those enjoying Far Cry Arcade will find that they have access to new Vietnam-themed assets from May 24th with the release of the Vietnam title update. All future DLCs will also include thematic assets that will be added to Far Cry Arcade for free.
If you want to go even deeper into the Hours of Darkness experience, then you’ll find that the soundtrack is also available at https://idol.lnk.to/FarCry5_Hours_of_Darkness. Composed by Wade MacNeil (Alexisonfire, Gallows, Black Lungs) and Andrew Gordon Macpherson, the music takes us on a journey into the madness of war. With the participation of renowned multi-instrumentalist Kim Uyen Le, Wade and Andrew have created a sound palette that blends traditional Vietnamese instruments with hypnotic, late 60’s psychedelic soundscapes, gritty vintage electronic textures, and pounding rhythmic patterns.
Don’t forget, Ubisoft are already committed to providing a ton of new content for Far Cry 5 post launch and we’ll be finding two new DLC adventures – Lost on Mars and Dead Living Zombies – released later this year in July and August.
