House Fighters Total mess
House Fighters Total Mess is now on console

Ever imagined your childhood toys waging an all-out, high-octane aerial war across your bedroom? A new PvE arcade shooter that brings that fantasy to life has just landed on consoles – House Fighters: Total Mess.

This nostalgic adventure is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, having previously launched on PC (Steam), all for the low price of just ÂŁ6.69.

Prepare to shrink down to the size of a toy, take on the role of a hopeful pilot cadet, and complete aerial missions in everyday living spaces.

A Bumpy Ride We’ve Been Cleared For

We’ve had this one on our radar for a little while now. It was back in August that we first got wind of this chaotic new title, when we reported that toy-sized dogfights would be taking flight in House Fighters: Total Mess.

Now, that day has finally arrived, and it’s time to take to the household skies.

There’s a trailer to take in too…

Welcome to the Cockpit, Lieutenant

The story of House Fighters: Total Mess puts you in the cockpit as Lieutenant Green, a young, hopeful pilot cadet. Your mission is to take on aerial missions in everyday living spaces, as there are toys in dire need of your help!

You’ll need to zip through banister railings, from the upstairs bedroom to the downstairs kitchen, and help your neighbourhood dollhouse throw a birthday party or assist local block builders as they complete a racecar track.

This isn’t a complex flight sim; it’s a pure, lighthearted aerial chaos game. It features traditional inverted flight mechanics but also introduces distinct, easy-to-pick-up combat controls that are simple enough for anyone to understand. You’ll need to weave between furniture and lamps in high-speed dogfights against your toy-sized foes.

Your Plane, Your Rules

The game features five different types of aircraft, each with its own advantages and disadvantages in engine efficiency, weight, and hull.

As you complete the 13 narrative-driven missions, you’ll receive special rewards, like wacky stickers and different paint jobs, to customise your aircraft with your own sense of style. You won’t just be using standard bullets, either; you’ll need to collect explosives and everyday items left around the house, like rockets, bombs, and even nails, to fire away at your enemies.

Your Flight Plan

Here’s what you can expect from this new toy-sized dogfighter:

  • Everyday spaces become toy-sized dogfight battle arenas! Explore bedrooms, kitchens, garages, and more.
  • 13 total narrative-driven missions where you can lend a helping hand to a whimsical cast of toys in need.
  • Easy-to-pick-up combat controls with inverted flight mechanics.
  • An aircraft stats system with 5 different types of aircraft to unlock.
  • Stickers, paint jobs, and multiple colour options to customize your jet.
  • Use everyday items as weapons, including rockets, bombs, and nails.

The battle for the bedroom is on, and the toys are counting on you. If you’re a fan of high-speed, accessible arcade shooters and are looking for a fun, nostalgic adventure, House Fighters: Total Mess is ready for takeoff on the Xbox Store right now. You’ll find it on PC, PlayStation and Switch.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
