House Flipper 2 Sakura – out on PC and console

There’s a reason games set in Japan (Forza Horizon 6, Coffee Talk Tokyo) keep pulling people in. Whether it’s the calm atmosphere, the traditional architecture, or simply the idea of escaping busy modern life for somewhere quieter, there’s something undeniably comforting about it all. And now House Flipper 2 is jumping in to that same world, embracing the vibe with its gorgeous new Sakura DLC.

Available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, the latest expansion from Frozen District swaps suburban renovations for cherry blossoms, countryside homes and cosy Japanese-inspired interiors. Better yet, it arrives alongside a hefty free update that improves the game’s buyers system in some meaningful ways too.

If you’ve ever wanted House Flipper 2 to feel even more relaxing than it already does, this might be exactly what you were waiting for.

Cherry Blossoms, Tea Rooms And Countryside Homes

The Sakura DLC transports players to Akamatsu Valley, a peaceful little town inspired by rural Japan. It’s a place filled with quiet streets, ageing buildings and stunning views of Mt. Fuji sitting in the distance.

You arrive there after being invited by an old friend who’s starting up an interior design business, but before long you’re pulled into helping restore parts of the local community itself. There’s a nice warmth running through the whole setup, giving the expansion a more personal feel than simply tackling random renovation jobs.

And the jobs themselves are wonderfully varied too – from cosy tea rooms through to abandoned schools and traditional homes that desperately need bringing back to life.

A DLC Built Around Atmosphere

More than anything else, this expansion feels like Frozen District simply wanting players to slow down and enjoy the process.

The team has clearly gone all-in on the Japanese inspiration. Traditional paper walls, sliding doors, ceramics, wooden features and minimalist Japandi furniture all combine to create spaces that feel calm and inviting rather than flashy.

According to the developers, what started as a smaller DLC eventually grew into something much bigger, now featuring more than 600 themed items.

Whether you’re creating a peaceful zen garden, modernising a countryside property or building the kind of apartment you’d happily move into yourself, the amount of creative freedom here is seriously impressive.

Buyers Finally Feel More Alive

Alongside the paid DLC comes the free Buyers 2.0 update, and this may end up being just as important for long-term players.

One of the criticisms of House Flipper 2 was that buyers could sometimes feel a little detached from the work you were doing. This update changes that by adding live reactions, likes, dislikes and comments during auctions, making it feel like people are genuinely responding to your renovation choices.

New buyer profiles and moodboards also help give clients far more personality than before. Throw in quality-of-life improvements, motion sickness options and over 100 extra items added to the shop, and it’s a surprisingly chunky free update overall.

The Perfect Match For House Flipper 2?

There’s something oddly therapeutic about House Flipper 2. Cleaning up mess, repainting walls and turning run-down homes into somewhere cosy shouldn’t be as satisfying as it is, yet somehow it completely works.

The Sakura DLC feels like a natural extension of that formula, with more comfort and creativity than perhaps anything before it.

In our 4/5 review of House Flipper 2, we said: “If you did like things first time around, then this is an improvement, thanks to a fun campaign and various environments, areas and items.”

For players who enjoy the slower, more creative side of House Flipper 2, Sakura could easily end up being the game’s most enjoyable expansion yet.

Find it on the usual storefronts today, like that of the Xbox Store and Steam.
