Survival Through Speed
Jungle Shoot wastes little time getting down to business. Players are dropped into an unforgiving jungle environment where survival depends on quick movement, accurate jumps and staying one step ahead of relentless enemy attacks. Rather than focusing on exploration or narrative, the emphasis here is firmly on action and progression.
Each run sees players leaping between platforms, dodging hazards, collecting coins and fighting off waves of increasingly aggressive enemies. As the challenge ramps up, so too does the need to upgrade weapons and improve your abilities in order to stay alive.
It’s a simple premise, but one built around constant forward momentum.
And no two runs should feel exactly the same. Enemy patterns evolve, difficulty scales steadily and new threats emerge as players push deeper into the jungle. Success isn’t simply about fast reactions either; knowing when to invest in upgrades and how to adapt to changing situations could prove equally important.
A Familiar Companion In The Bundle
Alongside the standalone release, players can also pick up the Alex the Rabbit + Jungle Shoot Bundle, priced at ÂŁ20.99. That package includes all three versions of both Jungle Shoot and Alex the Rabbit, giving fans of colourful indie platformers a sizeable collection in one purchase.
Of course, some may already know Alex the Rabbit. We reviewed the game previously and awarded it a 2/5 score, noting: “As you can probably tell from my grumpy tone, Alex the Rabbit wasn’t a big hit in our house. While we appreciated the Mario-like presentation, it was sorely lacking some important elements.“
A Budget-Friendly Blast Of Action?
At just ÂŁ4.19, Jungle Shoot arrives as another affordable addition to the ever-growing catalogue of indie platformers on Xbox.
Whether it can rise above the crowded field remains to be seen, but should you be looking for a challenge built around movement, reflexes and constant action may find something to enjoy here.
Jungle Shoot is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. Head to the Xbox Store and pick up the Xbox Series X|S Optimised edition. Or that which works on Xbox One. Or maybe even the PC drop. Your call.
