Hunahpu Quest. Mechanoid launches on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC, giving players a colourful but decidedly unforgiving adventure built around puzzles, platforming and plenty of mechanical nasties.
Priced at £4.19, this latest version brings Rumata Lab’s adventure to Xbox and PC after previously appearing on Steam, where it has earned Mostly Positive reviews, and Nintendo Switch. And while the premise might sound straightforward, actually getting Hunahpu to his brother is anything but.

A Rescue Mission With Plenty Of Problems
Hunahpu has one thing on his mind – rescuing his brother from the clutches of a fearsome mechanical monster known as the Mechanoid. Unfortunately, the route between Hunahpu and his sibling is packed with enemies, puzzles and hazards that will put his skills to the test.
The game mixes traditional adventure elements with brain teasers and more complicated puzzles, meaning quick reactions alone aren’t going to be enough. Players will need to think their way through the 40 levels while working out the best route through each challenge.
And then there are the dinosaurs and rockets. Because apparently a difficult rescue mission wasn’t quite enough.
Dinosaurs, Rockets And A Rocket Belt
Hunahpu Quest. Mechanoid certainly isn’t restricting itself to straightforward platforming. Across its levels, players will find pursuits involving dinosaurs and rockets, along with sections that see Hunahpu taking to the skies with a rocket belt.
The game promises 40 levels with different ways to approach their challenges, giving players plenty of opportunity to test their reactions, strength and intelligence. It’s a combination that should appeal to those who enjoy their platforming adventures with a healthy dose of problem solving.
There is also a deliberate hardcore streak running through the experience. The difficulty can apparently become frustrating enough to make you want to introduce your controller to the nearest wall, so patience may be just as valuable as Hunahpu’s abilities.
A Familiar Adventure Finds A New Home

For players looking for an inexpensive adventure that combines puzzles, platforming, enemies and some decidedly unusual set pieces, the £4.19 asking price makes Hunahpu Quest. Mechanoid an easy one to add to the list. You’ll find it on the Xbox Store in three versions too – optimised for Xbox Series X|S, playable on Xbox One, and for Windows PC.
Just remember, Hunahpu might have a simple objective, but the Mechanoid isn’t going to make that rescue easy. Expect puzzles, expect danger and perhaps keep your controller away from the nearest hard surface.
