Hyper Shapes is an all-new boss rush experience!

You’ll either love, or hate, a boss battle. But what if an entire game is built around them? That’s the case for Hyper Shapes as it releases on Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and PC.

Hyper Shapes is a Boss Rush game with a difference as JanduSoft and BlindShot Studio look to take the genre, mix it with some bullet-hell and minimalist ideas before throwing it the way of gamers. It could well work, and it should appeal if you are after a test of your gaming skills.

Available today for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam, Hyper Shapes will throw you into a number of levels, leaving you to try and get a grip on the attack patterns of your foes, as quickly as you can.

Running a 2D minimalistic art style, each room in Hyper Shapes runs along slightly different lines, with each boss proving to be a challenge in itself. Basically put, it’s up to you to utilise a power ball to defeat them. Just don’t expect this to be seen as an easy ride.

Key game features include:

  • Frenetic gameplay.
  • Minimalistic art style.
  • A different “Boss Rush” experience.
  • Easy to play, Hard to master!.

A quick look at the trailer below should give you all you need to know about Hyper Shapes and whether or not it’ll be a game for you. If it is, the usual digital stores will cover the download bases, with the Xbox Store providing access to the Xbox One and/or Xbox Series X|S version of the game. You’ll find Hyper Shapes on PlayStation, Switch and PC too. Expect to pay around £4.19.

We’ve been doing battle with this one and our review of Hyper Shapes on Xbox is live.

Game Description:

Hyper Shapes is a frenetic minimalist Boss Rush where understanding the enemies attack patterns and weaknesses is key. Immerse yourself in a unique experience with a 2D minimalistic art style. Each room is a surprise and each boss a different challenge with unique mechanics. Use your power ball to defeat them and beware of their attacks. You won’t have a break.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
