Hypnos has been officially unveiled, and it looks set to pull players into one of the most unsettling worlds revealed so far this year.
Coming to PC and consoles (we’re crossing fingers for Xbox, PlayStation and maybe Switch) later in 2026, the newly announced first-person exploration adventure from Redlock Studio invites players to step into the Nameless City – a vast, dream-born megastructure hovering at the edge of consciousness itself.
Best known for Shattered: Tale of the Forgotten King and Blackshard, Redlock Studio is once again leaning into surrealism and atmosphere with Hypnos, delivering a semi-open world experience steeped in Lovecraftian dread, fractured narratives and haunting imagery.
A debut teaser trailer has already given a taste of the game’s hypnotic tone, blending exploration, mystery and quiet unease.
Hypnos At A Glance
- First-person exploration adventure set in a dreamlike megastructure
- Semi-open world known as the Nameless City
- Branching dialogue, player choice and multiple endings
- Part of Redlock Studio’s Maze Chronicles universe
- Coming to PC and consoles later this year
A City Built From Dreams And Doubt
At the heart of Hypnos lies the Nameless City, a layered, shifting environment that feels more imagined than constructed. Rather than pushing players down rigid paths, the game encourages curiosity and observation, allowing you to find your own way through its corridors, plazas and forgotten spaces.
This is a world populated by strange monarchs and unsettling inhabitants, each with their own motivations and hidden truths. Redlock Studio describes Hypnos as an exploration of dreams and memory, with a central mystery revolving around a boy who appears to be haunting the player’s subconscious.
Choice, Consequence And Layered Reality
While atmosphere is a clear focus, Hypnos also leans heavily into narrative agency. Conversations branch, choices carry weight, and the outcomes of your actions ripple outward, shaping both character destinies and the ending you ultimately reach.
The world itself is not static either. Players can interact with the environment in meaningful ways, transforming the very “materia” of dreams.
As veils are lifted and reality shifts, the city responds, reinforcing the idea that nothing here is entirely solid or trustworthy.
A Familiar Universe With A New Perspective
Hypnos is set within Redlock Studio’s Maze Chronicles universe, following on from Blackshard. While it shares thematic DNA with earlier entries, Hypnos adopts a first-person viewpoint, bringing players closer than ever to the studio’s signature blend of myth, symbolism and existential unease.
Adding to the experience is an original soundtrack by ALT236, a French artist and composer. The music blends ambient textures with retro and dreamlike electronic elements, designed to subtly guide players deeper into the city’s hypnotic rhythm.
Enter The Dream Later This Year
Hypnos is scheduled to launch on PC (wishlist on Steam right now if you like) and consoles later this year. If Redlock Studio’s past work is anything to go by, this journey into the Nameless City could be one of the most distinctive exploration experiences of 2026.
For those drawn to worlds that blur the line between dream and reality, Hypnos looks like a descent well worth taking.
