I Hear Them – now on PC and console

Moving house is stressful enough without discovering that something is scratching around inside the walls. I Hear Them takes that familiar nightmare and makes it considerably stranger, as your new home turns out to be infested with rats and your most useful ally is the family cat.

Available for ÂŁ8.39 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC, with three versions, as well as PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, this first-person horror adventure has plenty of scratching, scurrying and supernatural secrets to uncover.

Published by Sometimes You and developed by Strange Presence, I Hear Them takes place in 2008, putting you inside an atmospheric house where the rat problem is clearly only the beginning of your troubles.

There’s Something In The Walls

At first, the job sounds simple enough. There are rats in your new home and somebody needs to get rid of them. Then the noises start.

I Hear Them sends you exploring the house as you investigate the creatures scurrying through the walls and ceiling, gradually uncovering the supernatural mystery behind their unusual gatherings. What begins as an unwanted infestation turns into something considerably more unsettling as the secrets of the house start coming to light.

The first-person perspective keeps you close to the action, while the atmospheric setting gives all those little noises plenty of opportunity to get under your skin.

Lola Is The Real Star

The biggest surprise is waiting beside you on four paws.

Your cat, Lola, accompanies you as you attempt to deal with the rat infestation, and she’s considerably more useful than your average horror-game companion. In fact, our review of I Hear Them gave the game 3.5/5, with one particular aspect standing out: we’ve rarely seen a game where a cat effectively gets to be used as a shotgun.

Lola’s performance was one of the highlights of the short horror experience, with our review praising just how easy it is to become attached to her. That makes the strange partnership between player and cat one of the more memorable aspects of the adventure. You’re not simply wandering through a creepy house alone – you’ve got a very furry accomplice helping you deal with whatever is lurking nearby.

A Small Horror Adventure With Some Big Surprises

I Hear Them is a relatively short horror experience, but there are plenty of reasons to pay attention as you work through the house.

The rats are only part of the story, with supernatural mysteries gradually emerging as you investigate their behaviour and the strange events taking place around your new home.

I Hear Them is now available for ÂŁ8.39 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC, in three versions on the Xbox Store, alongside PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

If you’ve been looking for a reason to trust your cat with your life, this might not be the safest possible option. It might, however, be the most entertaining.
