Build Your Sect, Then Let It Grow
Idle Immortal puts you in charge of your own Chinese fantasy sect, with the ultimate ambition of guiding its disciples towards immortality.
The idle element means your sect doesn’t simply stop existing whenever you put the controller down. Your disciples can continue battling and growing stronger while you’re away, making this a rather more relaxed take on the RPG grind.
When you are playing, however, there’s plenty to get involved with.
You can recruit from 16 playable characters, each bringing their own talents, classes and skills to the table. Building a successful squad isn’t simply about finding the strongest characters, either, as each disciple can follow one of six cultivation paths.
Shape Your Own Disciples
Characters can also learn different cultivation techniques, opening up different bonuses and allowing two disciples from the same class to develop into very different builds.
That gives the squad-building side of Idle Immortal a little more depth than simply collecting characters and sending them into battle. You’ll need to consider how your disciples complement one another and which cultivation paths best suit the team you’re trying to create.
Of course, Idle Immortal isn’t solely about watching your squad beat up anything unfortunate enough to cross its path. You’ll explore a wider world filled with other sects and factions, gather resources and encounter random events along the way. Those journeys can also uncover unexpected treasures while helping to advance the story and strengthen your own cultivation.
Back at home, you’re responsible for the sect itself. Facilities can be built and upgraded to produce useful items, while increasing your reputation and resources allows your base to grow. In other words, becoming an immortal apparently involves quite a lot of property development.
Two DLC Heroes Join The Deluxe Edition
The £18.49 Deluxe Edition adds Daughter of Fate and Seven-Star Strategist, both of which are also available separately for £4.19.
The Daughter of Fate introduces Xuan Nü, an enigmatic figure whose true motives remain shrouded in mystery. Her abilities focus heavily on damage, including attacks that can benefit from an enemy’s missing health and effects that can unleash additional damage after securing a kill.
Seven-Star Strategist, meanwhile, brings the mysterious Seven Stars Pavilion into the mix. Its Seven-Star Diviners harness the power of the heavens, with abilities capable of attacking multiple enemies and generating additional effects through Lucky Hits.
For players wanting to expand their roster from the outset, the Deluxe Edition therefore provides two rather different additions to the sect.
