Fresh from doing a stellar job as the voice of Knuckles in the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie, British actor Idris Elba is keen to once again flex is gaming chops. This time around he will be joining the cast of Cyberpunk 2077, and their upcoming expansion, Phantom Liberty.
We already knew Keanu Reeves AKA Jonny Silverhand was going to be returning. Now, we have news of another Hollywood superstar joining the ranks. Idris Elba will be appearing as Solomon Reed in Cyberpunk 2077. Reed is an agent for the New United States of America, and apparently the only one you can trust with your latest mission. It involves espionage and survival, much like the base game then, only this time you need the help of Reed.
Phantom Liberty will take players to a new district in Night City, known as Dogtown. You get a brief glimpse of it in the trailer. Mainly though, we’re more excited to be teaming up with Idris Elba and gazing into his eyes. I wonder if he is a new romance option… Moving on.
Phantom Liberty will only be available for Xbox Series X|S, PC and PS5 players. It is also going to be the first and only piece of DLC for Cyberpunk 2077, so let’s hope it is a big one. Not that we’ve anywhere near finished exploring Night City in its current guise.
There is currently no release date for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, but we do know it is due in 2023. Let’s just hope not in early 2023, as that is already full to the brim with games being released.
For now, check out Cyberpunk 2077 on the Xbox Store if you have yet to pick it up. And don’t forget about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix if you have access to it; it’s a very good anime spin-off.
