2014 seems an age ago, but it was back then when we first heard of Snowcastle Games, as they went about working on the release of Earthlock: Festival of Magic. After then releasing in 2016, and teasing a sequel in 2020, it’s that Snowcastle Games team who are coming back to the fore again today – announcing Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure.
Looking to expand the Earthlock universe on PC and console, Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure will see you crafting, building and exploring the world around you, as Snowcastle take inspiration from the likes of Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley to deliver a new take on the genre.
Promising adventure, mystery and fun, Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure will whisk you off to a beautiful island setting as you look to work with resources and crafting systems, taking on perilous pirate camps in the process. You’ll be able to fully enlist the talents of this island’s wildlife too as Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure looks to build on the Earthlock franchise.
Set on a deserted island, the game tasks players with exploring its diverse and intriguing landscape as they collect resources for crafting and befriend wildlife to employ their unique abilities to progress to new areas of the island. They will discover ancient ruins from a bygone civilization, deal with treasure-hungry pirates, and unlock a host of different biomes, ranging from icy mountains and parched deserts, to dense jungles and humid swamps, as they uncover the secrets the island has to offer.
There will also be the opportunity to make the island your own, all thanks to an upgradable hamlet which will serve as a base of operations. Further, unique placeable items allow you to customize the island to your liking.
“We are so excited to finally be able to share the next step in the Earthlock franchise with players,” said Bendik Stang, Game Director & Co-founder of Snowcastle Games. “With Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure, we want to use the rich world we’ve built for Earthlock to offer players a brand new experience, backed with detailed crafting and customisation mechanics. We can’t wait to tell you more about our plans for the game in its early access phase as we build to a full PC and console release, but for now I hope you enjoy the game’s announcement trailer!”
