The development team at Playdead don’t make many games, but when they do, they really do nail every single aspect. That is no more true than the stunning gameplay experience found in INSIDE, and from today it is free to download on Xbox One thanks to the Games With Gold scheme.
Stripped of its price tag via the Xbox Games With Gold scheme for July 2019, INSIDE is Playdead’s second title, following up on the success that the team had with their debut game, Limbo. Usually priced up at £15.99 all Xbox Live Gold members who find themselves with a valid subscription will be able to download INSIDE for free throughout the month of July 2019, with the game headlining the freebies for the month.
Running as a 2.5D puzzle platformer, INSIDE sees you taking on the role of a young boy who has been left to explore the world around him. Dark, surreal, and utterly silent (aside from a well rounded musical score), this is a deep experience that will drag you in and very rarely ever let go. At least not until you’ve made it to the end and witnessed the wonders within.
As a freebie, a playthrough of INSIDE is a bit of a no-brainer, and even then, without it being given away for free, it would still be well worth your time. In fact, our review rates it so highly that it was placed right up there with the very best games of 2016, worthy of the GOTY nominations that it received.
