Phantom Spark – racing to console and PC

From out of nowhere, racing towards Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC is the exhilarating high-speed racing of Phantom Spark.

Available today from Coatsink (they behind Phogs!) and Ghosts is Phantom Spark. This is a game that has been inspired by the likes of Trackmania, WipeOut, F-Zero and more. Sold yet?

Of course you are, and that is why you should be heading to the Xbox Store and dropping a purchase on Phantom Spark immediately. Land that cash with aplomb and you’ll be able to play on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. Alternatively, the digital stores of PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC will also offer up downloads.

A WipeOut?

Dive in to Phantom Spark and you’ll find yourself showcasing your racing skills like no other. It’s here where you are dropped into a ship, left to speed through otherworldly architecture, shaving milliseconds off best times in hope of proving yourself as the fastest in the land.

Phantom Spark features a full single-player campaign, as you challenge the domain champions, as well as a split-screen multiplayer mode where you can take on your friends. Global online leaderboards are in place too, letting you  test your skills to the limit as you seek to hone your abilities and set record-breaking times.

Competing against ghost opponents to see the current best time in action is also possible, allowing you to improve your racing line and find those extra fractions of a second that can make all the difference. Consider that Phantom Spark comes with instant restarts, it’s easy for you to stay in the rhythm, keeping focus as you refine your times on each pathway.

“For three years the leaderboards have been just us, friends and testers. I’m excited about what strategies players will find, and seeing the responses to the design of the world and the pathways”, said Joo Van Hove, Design & Developer of Ghosts. “We (the developers) are reserving our internal competition until after launch, and seeing if we can even make it into the top 10.”

Key game features

  • Over 30 hand-built pathways to race.
  • Play in Single-Player or Local Split Screen Multiplayer.
  • Race across three Domains, each featuring a unique Champion, visual theme, and pathway mechanics.
  • Dynamic challenges give you constant targets for improvement.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
