Instruments of Destruction – coming to Xbox and PS5

If your favourite part of any game is watching buildings crumble into a beautiful cascade of physics-based rubble, then you’re going to love playing Instruments of Destruction on Xbox and PS5.

Instruments of Destruction, the incredible vehicle-action game from one-person developer Radiangames, has been picked up by publisher Secret Mode and is officially smashing its way onto Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 later in 2025.

Originally released on PC in May 2024, this announcement and a brand-new console reveal trailer have set a chain reaction in motion that will bring one of the most advanced physics-based demolition sandboxes to a whole new audience.

From the Mind Behind Red Faction: Guerilla’s Mayhem

To understand the hype behind this game, you need to know who is behind the wrecking ball. Instruments of Destruction is primarily the work of Luke Schneider, a legendary developer who was the Lead Technical Designer on the iconic open-world destruction masterpiece, Red Faction: Guerilla.

A Legacy of Demolition

For years, gamers have heralded Red Faction: Guerilla as the gold standard for destructible environments. Instruments of Destruction is the spiritual evolution of that beloved legacy, taking the core concept of advanced, physics-based demolition and building an entire game around it.

If you’ve ever dreamed of a game that captures the pure joy of Guerilla’s destructive freedom and dials it up to eleven, this is it.

Your Career in Chaos

The game is structured to teach you the art of destruction before letting you completely off the leash. As a new member of Sharpe Industries – a company that specialises in building giant machines to wreak havoc – you’ll take on a variety of challenges.

The main campaign features 50 carnage-filled challenges where you’ll use pre-built machines to complete increasingly tough tasks. This is followed by 25 “Build & Destroy” missions, where you’ll learn the ropes of demolition design by using your own custom-built vehicles to achieve specific objectives.

Unleash Your Inner Wrecking Ball

Once you’ve honed your skills, you can take your experience into the Sandbox mode.

Here, you’ll build your own mechanical monsters from over 130 unique parts and cause unmitigated chaos on customisable islands with a single, glorious objective: destroy everything. Yes, EVERYTHING!

Primed for Console Destruction

The newly announced console versions of Instruments of Destruction are set to launch later in 2025. Xbox and PlayStation players can expect to receive all the same content as the PC version – including the full campaign, sandbox, and complete vehicle customisation options – all fully optimised for their target platforms.

The blueprints are laid out, and the demolition crews are getting ready. For fans of pure, unadulterated physics-based chaos, the wait for the console version of Instruments of Destruction just got a whole lot more exciting.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
