Looking to take in an interplanetary journey through time and space? You’re going to be wanting to keep a lookout for the launch of Exo One on Xbox Series X this holiday.

Announced as part of the Xbox Games Showcase pre-show event, Exo One comes from the Australian developer Exbleative and indie publisher Future Friends Games, with it due to launch on Xbox Series X in the holiday 2020 season.

Exo One is an interplanetary journey through space and time, allowing players to pilot a mysterious alien craft capable of manipulating gravity to drift and flow across visually diverse, stunning and strange planets. In it you will have to master a truly alien traversal system, moving through enigmatic and desolate alien landscapes in ways you’ve never experienced before.

This may mean you need to utilise gravity and momentum to reach colossal speeds and exhilarating heights, riding thermal updrafts into boiling cloud formations, careen down hillsides and launch off mountain tops, all the time drifting toward the shining blue beam on the horizon. Drop in some super hot atmospheric, diffused visuals that merge with otherworldly sound effects and a hypnotic electric guitar soundtrack, and from the initial reveal, there is much to like.

“I’m super stoked that this game I’ve poured the last 4 years of my life into is going to be launching on Xbox’s next-gen console!” said Jay Weston, developer of Exo One. “Having the Xbox team believe in what we’re creating here is a massive deal for me, and I can’t wait to see Exo One slugging it out with all the big-name titles on that shiny new Xbox store!”

If you’re ready to open a wormhole and step through into mankind’s first journey outside the solar system, then the reveal trailer below will deliver the goods. Give it a watch and hold tight for that launch on Xbox Series X this holiday.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
