The end of the world is getting closer for Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days, but thankfully there is still some time to prepare. PikPok has confirmed that its side-scrolling zombie survival game will leave Early Access and launch in full on March 2027, bringing its desperate fight for survival to PC and consoles.

The 1.0 release will arrive on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and GeForce NOW, with a new trailer offering another look at the expanded experience ahead of launch.

Walton City Is Running Out Of Time

Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days takes the zombie apocalypse somewhere a little different. Rather than simply blasting through endless waves of the undead, you’re responsible for keeping a vulnerable group of survivors alive as they attempt to escape Walton City, Texas.

Set in 1980, the city is already struggling with a heatwave and economic crisis when the zombie outbreak arrives. With the outside world cut off, ordinary people are forced together and must find a way through the ruined city before the infected overwhelm them.

That means scavenging for supplies, finding somewhere safe to shelter and deciding when it is worth putting a survivor in danger to secure something the group desperately needs.

Survival Is About More Than Zombies

The side-scrolling format also puts the emphasis firmly on managing the people under your care. Hunger and exhaustion need to be controlled, while injuries and psychological problems can make an already difficult situation considerably worse.

Shelters can be upgraded, weapons and tools can be crafted, and survivors can be moved between refuges as the zombie threat continues to close in. But nowhere remains safe forever.

When heading into Walton City, stealth can be just as important as combat. Survivors can sneak past threats or attempt to fight their way through using whatever weapons they have managed to find or make.

And then there are the other humans. As you might expect to hear, not everyone encountered during the collapse will be friendly, leaving players to make some uncomfortable decisions about who to trust, who to recruit and, in the worst circumstances, who to leave behind.

March 2027 Marks The Next Chapter

The upcoming 1.0 release is the culmination of the game’s Early Access period, during which PikPok says player feedback has helped shape and expand the survival systems and content.

That makes the March launch an important milestone for a game that is already available on PC, where it currently carries Very Positive reviews on Steam.

Announcing the launch of Version 1.0 marks a major milestone for the team,” said Mario Wynands, CEO at PikPok. “The passion and feedback from our Early Access community has helped shape and drive Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days into an experience even better than what we originally envisioned. We’re excited to welcome both returning survivors and new players when the full game launches in March 2027.

With the full 1.0 release now locked in for March 2027, there’s still time for PikPok to put the finishing touches on its take on the zombie apocalypse. When it arrives on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, Walton City will be ready to test just how far you’re willing to go to get your survivors out alive.

The new launch trailer provides another glimpse at what awaits…
