Halloween 1985 – out now on console

What better way to get in the spooky spirit than with a brand-new retro platformer that takes you right back to the golden age of the arcade – Halloween 1985?

Halloween 1985 has launched today just in time for the big night. This new pixel-art romp from Spoonbox Studio, Ratalaika Games, and Eastasiasoft, is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation for the terrifyingly low price of just £4.19.

Prepare to dash, jump, and dodge your way through a gauntlet of classic monsters to reclaim your stolen pumpkins and become a Halloween legend.

A Halloween Quest!

The story of Halloween 1985 is a classic tale of Halloween woe. It’s Halloween night, and a horde of monsters has stolen all of Pumpkman’s pumpkins! It’s up to you, as the titular hero, to get them back. Your quest will have you battling classic foes like Dracula, The Mummy, and The Witch, all in a desperate attempt to save the night.

Check out the retro action in the official launch trailer:

A Golden Age Throwback

This is a 2D platformer through and through. You will need to jump, dodge, and battle your way through five vibrant and quirky levels, each themed around a classic monster. You’ll have to master the levels, learn the enemy patterns, and fight your way to each boss’s lair for a final showdown.

To keep you coming back, Halloween 1985 is packed with features that celebrate its arcade roots. The game features three different game modes and multiple difficulty settings to match your skill level.

It’s built for high-score chasing, just like the golden age of gaming, all set to a groovy retro chiptune soundtrack.

Your Trick-or-Treat Bag

Here’s what you can expect from this new retro-inspired platformer:

  • Master 5 Halloween-themed platforming stages.
  • Run, jump, and dodge as the heroic Pumpkman.
  • Choose from multiple difficulty settings.
  • Take down monstrous bosses like Dracula, The Mummy, and The Witch.
  • Chase high scores in old-school arcade style.
  • Enjoy retro pixel art graphics and a chiptune soundtrack.

The monsters are out, the pumpkins are missing, and a retro showdown is waiting. If you’re looking for the perfect, affordable arcade blast to play this Halloween, Halloween 1985 is ready to light up your night on the Xbox Store right now, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Alternatively, it’s on the Nintendo eShop and PlayStation Store.
