The official keyart of Towerborne as it launches on Xbox and Game Pass

Towerborne steps out of Game Preview and into its full 1.0 release on Xbox Series X|S and PC, complete with Xbox Play Anywhere support and a Day One launch into Game Pass.

After months of player feedback and refinement, Stoic’s side-scrolling Action RPG Brawler is no longer a promising work-in-progress – it’s the complete experience, ready to test your combos and your teamwork.

Published by Xbox Game Studios, Towerborne now delivers its full story campaign, expanded systems and the polished combat loop that first caught attention back in April 2025 when it debuted in Game Preview. At the time, we said it was “most certainly off to a promising start.” Now, it’s time to see how far that promise has come.

At A Glance

  • Game: Towerborne
  • Developer: Stoic
  • Publisher: Xbox Game Studios
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox Play Anywhere
  • Availability: Game Pass Day One
  • Genre: Side-Scrolling Action RPG Brawler

From Game Preview To Full Release

When Towerborne first launched in Game Preview on Game Pass, it arrived with strong foundations. There was tight combat, slick art direction and a clear ambition to blend classic brawler action with modern RPG progression. The early version hinted at something bigger.

The full release builds on that framework. Systems have been refined, balance adjusted and the narrative campaign fully realised. What was once a live, evolving project is now a complete package, though still built with the flexibility and replayability that made it compelling in preview form.

For Game Pass subscribers, the upgrade is immediate. Towerborne lands Day One in the service, meaning there’s no barrier to jumping back in or trying it for the first time.

Rise Again As An Ace

In Towerborne, you play as an Ace, an immortal warrior reborn to defend the Belfry from the corruption spreading across a fractured world. Beyond its walls lies the fallen City of Numbers, a crumbling landscape filled with enemies and unanswered questions.

The structure is straightforward: venture out, push back the darkness, return stronger. But within that loop lies depth.

Combat revolves around responsive, combo-driven action. It feels grounded in classic side-scrolling brawlers, yet layered with RPG progression. Weapons fundamentally alter playstyle. Gear influences builds. Every encounter feeds into character growth.

It’s accessible enough for quick sessions, but detailed enough for players who want to fine-tune builds and experiment with synergies.

Solo Strength Or Shared Chaos

Towerborne shines brightest when played cooperatively. Up to four Aces can join forces, combining abilities and amplifying the chaos. Coordination matters. Positioning matters. Synergy can mean the difference between a smooth clear and a frantic scramble.

That said, solo players aren’t left behind. Umbra, your spirit companion, offers unique abilities that add tactical options when venturing alone. Whether you prefer structured teamwork or independent exploration, the game supports both approaches.

And thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere, progress carries between Xbox Series X|S and PC seamlessly. Start a session on console, continue on PC – your Ace remains intact.

A Story Worth Seeing Through

The full launch also cements Towerborne’s narrative arc. Beyond the loot and combat lies a broader story campaign that explores the Belfry, its inhabitants and the greater threat looming over humanity’s survival.

It’s not just about clearing stages. It’s about understanding what happened to the City of Numbers and why the world stands on the brink. For players who value context alongside combat, the campaign adds weight to every mission.

A Promising Start Fulfilled?

Back in April 2025, when Towerborne first hit Game Preview, we highlighted its potential to become something special. The core loop was already addictive, the combat satisfying.

Now, with its full release on Xbox Series X|S and PC – and a Day One arrival on Game Pass – Towerborne feels ready to claim that space properly. Stay tuned for our review and head over to the Xbox Store if you want to download it for yourself.

There’s a Deluxe Edition of Towerborne too. The Deluxe Edition (ÂŁ26.99) helps you unlock customisations faster and style your adventure your way. Ideal for players who want early flexibility in builds and a distinctive look from day one. What’s included? – 2 Numbers Cosmetic Sets, Lazurite Cosmetic Set, 6 additional Rare Aspects, Supply of Core crafting materials, and a Trove of advanced crafting materials.

Whether you’re returning to your Ace or stepping into the Belfry for the first time, this is the definitive version. Sharpen your weapons, rally your allies and push back the darkness. The tower is no longer under construction.
