It’s time for lift-off as a team of monkeys are blasted into space for a jolly adorable party game called Bonkies. So, huddle together for a spot of couch co-op based construction fun on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Developed by Studio Gauntlet, the idea behind Bonkies is to bring people together to enjoy some good wholesome content. As a local co-op offering, it poses challenges involving space construction and a team of cute monkeys (as well as a few other adorable creatures) for up to four players to partake in. It requires you to erect all sorts of quirky constructions on distant planets across the solar system, by stacking blocks so that they fit within a specific outline. Not only must you approach the missions as a well-oiled team, but also master the use of the trusty ‘apequipment’ available: a banana-fuelled jetpack and a powerful robotic arm.

Bonkies features both single-player and multiplayer campaigns, so don’t worry if local gatherings are tricky right now. On the whole though, it includes tons of hand-crafted levels that ensure cooperation, quick wits, agility, and coordination to solve the puzzle in time, are essential. While Bonkies delivers a challenging experience, it’s a light-hearted bit of enjoyment first and foremost. Expect to build using all sorts of wacky blocks and have a good chuckle at the mishaps caused by the physics-based mechanics.

Should you need more convincing about Bonkies and its viability as a provider of joy, then we’ll guide you towards our full review and suggest you give it a read. Once you’re convinced Bonkies is the couch co-op game for you, simply buy it from the Xbox Store for £12.99 – or £10.39 during the first week after launch. Other platforms are available of course, so feel free to use their digital stores instead.

Game Description:

Bonkies is a jolly party game about cooperation, space construction and the joys of colonising the solar system as a team of monkeys. You and your prime mates will be tasked with raising all sorts of quirky constructions on distant planets, by stacking blocks so they fit a given outline. To do so, you will have to team up with other space faring animals and master the use of your trusty apequipment – a banana-fuelled jetpack and a powerful robo-arm. On top of that, you’ll have to utilise the wackiest kinds of blocks (magnets, rockets and even nuclear fusion are no strangers for a well-trained astronaut like yourself), and work in exotic and not-quite-monkey-friendly places. Who said space construction was going to be easy? Monkey around with your friends! Moving heavy blocks is no small feat. Fortunately, up to 4 friends can join forces together to carry this burden (or drop it on each other’s heads). Monkey around by yourself Waiting for friends to join you? Don’t worry! You can have fun in the single player campaign! Fancy blocks for every occasion To make the job more interesting, you’ll find some rather unusual blocks at your disposal. If you thought this would all be easy, wait until you have to try and catch a stray rocket block flying around, or handle an explosive nuclear fusion cube. Choose your chimpion Animals of all shapes and sizes come to help out, thumb-owners or not! Monkeys, dogs, cats (possibly a unicorn too?) – you name it! They’re all eager to suit up and monkey around. Earn your bananas Bananas are the space food of the future! Secure your bunch by beating the time scores, and if you gather enough, you’ll unlock some new buddies!
