Contraband Police
Contraband Police – now on Xbox

For years, PC players have raved about a unique simulation that finally answered the question: “What if Papers, Please was a 3D action game with shootouts and car chases?” Today, that critically acclaimed experience has arrived on console – Contraband Police.

The Overwhelmingly Positive Steam hit from Crazy Rocks and PlayWay is now available on Xbox Series X|S for ÂŁ24.99.

Contraband Police on Xbox is not just another bizarre simulator; it’s a deep, engaging, and action-packed experience. Prepare to check documents, hunt for smugglers, and defend your post from violent gang attacks.

A Critically-Acclaimed Surprise Hit

While Contraband Police is new to the Xbox platform, it has been a massive sensation on PC (Steam) since its launch in 2023.

It has earned a coveted Overwhelmingly Positive review score from tens of thousands of players, who have all fallen in love with its unique and addictive blend of meticulous police work and explosive action.

Welcome to the Acarist People’s Republic

The year is 1981. You are a young officer trainee assigned to a border post in the mountainous region of Karikatka. Entry into the Acarist People’s Republic is strictly regulated by the party, and your every move is monitored. The tension skyrockets when your comrade is killed during one of the interventions, pulling you into a world of smuggling, rebellion, and gang warfare.

Your job is a fascinating mix of methodical police work and sudden, high-octane action.

The Papers, Please Part…

Your primary duty is at the gate. Every visitor must present a set of valid documents. You’ll have to check every detail – names, dates, photos – and even the slightest discrepancy is grounds for refusal. As the days go on, the number of required documents increases, making it even harder to spot the errors.

…Meets the Action Sim

This is where the game gets wild. Your intelligence team will provide tips on suspicious drivers. You’ll need to order them out of their vehicle and search it using a UV flashlight. Find something? You’ll then use tools to physically extract the smuggled goods – slashing tires, prying open panels, and more.

Sometimes, a desperate smuggler will try to make a run for it. You’ll have to jump into your own police car and engage in high-speed pursuits to stop and arrest them. And if that’s not enough, your station is a constant target for the Oberankov’s gang, forcing you to use firearms to defend your post in thrilling shootouts.

Your Officer’s Dossier

Here’s what you can expect from your new career:

  • Deep Document Control: Check for any discrepancies, as the number of documents increases over time.
  • Tense Smuggling Detection: Use a UV light and tools to physically extract contraband from vehicles.
  • Action-Packed Shootouts: Defend your post from constant gang attacks.
  • High-Speed Police Chases: Stop desperate smugglers from escaping the control zone.
  • Post Management: Upgrade your station to improve defences and inspection efficiency.
  • An Engaging Story: Solve crime puzzles, support your comrades, and make decisions that will determine the future of Acaristan.

The border is open, and the first car is waiting. If you’re a fan of deep simulation games and are looking for a title that perfectly blends methodical puzzling with explosive action, the critically acclaimed Contraband Police is ready for your inspection on the Xbox Store right now.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
