It’s time to meet the Drakes as the Drake Hollow Preview weekend kicks off on Xbox

One of the most interesting games to launch this coming summer is that of Drake Hollow, a cooperative action builder from a development team who have plenty of great history – think Halo, BioShock, Mortal Kombat and Rock Band. Before that launch though the team at The Molasses Flood are running a limited open beta with the preview weekend kicking off on Xbox today.

Following on from The Molasses Flood’s previous hit – that of The Flame in The Flood – Drake Hollow is hugely anticipated in many parts. We had the chance to run an exclusive interview with the Studio Director in order to find out more about the game, and you really should give that a read if you’re even slightly tempted by what it brings. And once you have, if you’re an Xbox Insider, then you should then get involved in the preview weekend immediately.

Running as a village-building action-adventure, Drake Hollow will see you dropped into the world of The Hollow – a blighted mirror of our world – in which players build and defend villages of Drakes. Working either alone or with friends, players follow the guidance of a mysterious crow to explore a dynamically generated and aether-swept world of islands all to help the Drakes restore their camp.

Available right now until Monday June 22nd at 9am PT, the Drake Hollow preview weekend will let you check out the game for the very first time, ahead of launch on Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam come July 17th. If anything, it’ll give you a sneak peak of what to expect when the game rolls around with a limited sandbox experience within one of the game biomes. But it’ll also allow those at The Molasses Flood the chance to stress test the game prior to launch.

If you’re an Xbox Insider then you should now be able to get access to the preview. And if you prefer your gaming on Steam, you can wishlist Drake Hollow right now. Let us know what you think of the game – the comments are down below.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
