2026's Best Games

Can you save your flock in Chicken Rescue?

There’s something instantly likeable about Chicken Rescue. Maybe it’s the no-nonsense setup, maybe it’s the bright pixel visuals, or maybe it’s just the idea of a lone chicken stepping up when things go wrong.

Yeah, we think it’s probably the later, but either way, this is a game that gets straight to the point – chicks are missing, danger is everywhere, and it’s up to you to sort it out. What ya waiting for?

Now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC (across three separate versions) for ÂŁ4.19, Chicken Rescue serves up a compact but surprisingly engaging platforming adventure that knows exactly how to keep things clucking along.

At A Glance

  • Game: Chicken Rescue
  • Developer: Marcell Rocha
  • Publisher: PowerSlash Studios
  • Price: ÂŁ4.19
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC
  • Game Type: 2D Platformer

A Poultry Mission With Plenty At Stake

In Chicken Rescue, you’re not just out for a casual stroll through the farmyard. This is a full-on rescue operation, with lost chicks trapped across a series of increasingly tricky levels.

Each stage gives you the chance to save up to three chicks, tucked away behind cages and often hidden behind hazards or clever level design. It’s not just about reaching the end either, you’ll need to explore, take risks, and make sure no chick gets left behind.

No pressure then. Just the fate of your entire flock resting on your wings.

Glide, Peck, Repeat

Holding the jump button lets your feathered hero glide through the air, opening up new paths and helping you avoid danger. It’s a simple mechanic, but one that adds just enough depth to keep things interesting.

And when things get a little too heated? You’ve got eggs to throw. Yes, really.

Collect eggs and use them as ranged attacks, giving you another way to deal with enemies beyond the classic stomp. It’s all very eggs-cellent.

Feathers, Diamonds And Danger

Beyond saving chicks, there’s another reason to explore every corner of each level. Diamonds.

Scattered throughout the stages, these shiny collectibles reward players who are willing to go off the beaten path. Combine that with hidden routes and multiple objectives, and there’s more here than just a straight run to the finish line.

It’s the kind of setup that encourages replaying levels, shaving off mistakes, and perfecting your route.

Time To Get Cluckin’

At £4.19, Chicken Rescue is an easy one to recommend if you’re after something fun, focused, and just a little bit silly in the best way possible.

It’s not trying to be the biggest or boldest platformer out there, but it knows how to keep things entertaining from start to finish. And sometimes, that’s exactly what you need. So go on – stop chicken out and give it a go.

You’ll find Chicken Rescue on the Xbox Store, available in three flavours. There’s the Xbox Series X|S optimised version, another for Xbox One, and then an edition for Windows PC.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
