It was back in the middle of 2017 when we first saw The Surge arrive, delivering an acclaimed brutal dystopian world in which you could slice, dice and utterly take-down your foes. But that was then, and this is now, and today we see the sequel release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Yep, it’s time for The Surge 2.
Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, The Surge 2 takes everything that was good about the original game, and sees Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 move things up a notch, providing even more slicing and dicing action. With a detailed and dynamic limb targeting system in play alongside an even deeper character progression system, your time with The Surge 2 promises much as it throws us into a brand new world full of imposing characters.
A new and improved engine is now behind what Deck 13 have created, and this will mean that the combat will be even more brutal than that which went before it, with a multitude of abilities, weaponry, implants and drones available to let you build a character how you see fit. And if you decide to slack off for even one moment, can be sure that the ferocious threats ahead will stomp down on you like never before.
It has to be said that when we got time to sit down with The Surge on Xbox One back in 2017, it provided a frankly brilliant experience; an experience that was built on by a number of content packs in the form of A Walk in the Park and The Good, The Bad, and The Augmented. Past history proves that Deck 13 and Focus Home know what they want out of The Surge and that is why this second game in the series is so highly anticipated. And for that reason alone you should be found heading to the Xbox Store for Xbox One (£49.99), the PlayStation Store for those preferring PS4, or via Steam for PC (£43.99).
There is also the chance to customise your The Surge 2 experience beyond the base game with the URBN Gear Pack. This comes in at £2.39 and delivers Warren’s Cutter (the most iconic weapon from The Surge), along with the full body YRBN armour set, the Judgement Axe, the URBN Skimmer Drone and the Lootscan.exe Radar module. You’ll also find access to a unique onine message icon.
