xbox games with gold august 2020

The summer may well be here and we may have seen the tide start to turn in terms of an influx of new game releases, but if you are looking for a cheap and easy way to see your Xbox backlog continue to grow, the Xbox Games With Gold scheme is the place to be. Each and every month we see four free games gifted to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers, giving them the chance to play games that they may have missed the first time around. August 2020 is no different and today we have confirmation of the free Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles being stripped of their usual price tags throughout the month. And yep, it’s not a bad month to be an Xbox gamer.

Following on the heels of July 2020 which saw the likes of WRC 8 and Saints Row 2 lead the charge, the Xbox Games With Gold scheme is once more providing opportunities galore for Xbox gamers with the addition of four more titles; four more titles that can be downloaded absolutely free of charge. They are…

  • Portal Knights – Xbox One – 1st-31st August 2020
  • Override: Mech City Brawl – Xbox One – 16th August – 15th September 2020
  • MX Unleashed – Xbox 360 – 1st-15th August 2020
  • Red Faction II – Xbox 360 – 16th-31st August 2020

Now obviously with the announcement that the games listed above are fast incoming, that means those which went before it will soon be going back up in price. Due to the unique way things work, you’ve still got a little time to grab the newbie from July – that of Dunk Lords on Xbox One – before that will cost a pretty penny, but otherwise time is fast running out for you to take home a free download of either WRC 8 or JUJU. In fact, you’ve only got until the end of July to action those downloads.

As always though, we’re here for the new freebies and August 2020 is certainly providing a decent smattering of gaming options. Or at least we think it is. What do you reckon? Let us know down in the comments whether or not the free games coming about via the Xbox Games With Gold scheme for August 2020 are titles you are interested in. If not, what do you want to see given away in the future? Let us know!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
