We’ve knocked into Real Heroes: Firefighter previously, not on Xbox, but upon scouring store pages of other formats. It’s a game that has had us intrigued, if a little worried the end product would play out along the lines of something like Firefighters: The Simulation or Firefighters: Airport Fire Department – we’re still scarred by those. It’s time to finally get the chance to find out for real though as Real Heroes: Firefighter HD tackles the blaze of Xbox.
Real Heroes: Firefighter HD (and yep, that HD is all-important), takes the tried and tested Real Heroes: Firefighter found elsewhere previously and ports it onto Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Whilst not next-gen optimised, this HD version will give you the chance to embark on a new career, one in which you’ll become a real hero – a firefighter.
You don’t need us to tell you what you’re likely to be doing from there on out, but as a newly recruited member of a Los Angeles fireteam, you’ll spend time learning on the job, putting out fires, rescuing potential victims and saving cats. Well, the press blast fails to mention cats, but in our eyes that’s job number one.
The real excitement comes from the firefighting and with a multitude of real-world tools at your disposal – a hose (check), axe (double check) and extinguisher (triple check), you should be able to prove your worth. There’s more though and in Real Heroes: Firefighter HD you’ll also get access to the likes of a Halligan for breaking and entering, a Deck Gun (yep, we can’t wait to hose the world with one of these) and more.
You’ll need to utilise these tools as you work through no less than eight levels and locations, each with dynamic fire effects that spread realistically – hint: aim at the base and the job will be a good ‘un.
If that doesn’t sell Real Heroes: Firefighter HD on Xbox, then let the stellar voice cast do so instead. You’ve got a proper Hollywood line-up here too – James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jack McGee (Rescue Me), Michael Jace (The Shield), Jamie Kennedy (Ghost Whisperer), and Jenette Goldstein (Aliens).
