The star-studded titles that are Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online have made their way onto a third generation of consoles, despite being nearly a decade old now. That’s right, proud owners of the Xbox Series X|S or PS5 can today head back to Los Santos (or get involved for the first time) on the most powerful of machines.
GTA V on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 brings all of the Story Mode and GTA Online madness that we have loved over the years, and updates it with a next-gen finish. Expect to be taking in the neon-soaked streets of the downtown suburbs, and the breathtaking natural vistas of Mount Chiliad in 4K visuals, ray tracing, and the highest of high fidelity. You can choose from one of three graphics settings to tailor your experience to your liking: Fidelity Mode prioritises visuals, with native 4K on Series X and PS5, and upscaled 4K resolution on Series S, at 30FPS across the board; Performance Mode takes things to 60FPS, with upscaled 4K resolution on Series X and PS5, and 1080p on Series S.
If you really want to push your console to its limits, on Series X and PS5 you can turn on Performance RT mode, with upscaled 4K resolution, targeted 60FPS smoothness, and that all important ray tracing to boot.
But that’s enough talk about the shiny graphics, as Rockstar have also thrown in some new content for newcomers or returners to enjoy. For the former, a new tutorial and introduction to GTA Online has been put in place, as well as the Career Builder system giving new players (or those who wish to start anew) $4,000,000 of a headstart.
For the millions that have been playing GTA Online for years now, Hao’s Special Works introduces newly modified vehicles to burn rubber with, as well as new races to tackle. Such players will also be relieved to see an overhauled front-end Main Menu, as we all know that the UI can be quite tricky to navigate.
Key features include:
- • STUNNING VISUALS — Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes featuring up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, HDR options, ray tracing, improved texture quality, and more
- • FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before
- • SPATIAL SOUND — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighboring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more
Importing your save from Xbox One or PS4 is also a cinch: there’s a one time migration for both Story Mode and GTA Online via uploading data to the Rockstar Games Social Club.
GTA V on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 is the ultimate way to play one of the best games of the 21st Century, so you’d be a fool not to pick up a copy via the Xbox Store for Xbox Series X|S, or on PlayStation’s markets for PS5. £34.99 is all you need to pay. Alternatively, the Story Mode is available for £17.99.
Keep an eye out for our full review of both Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online, and how they both work on Xbox Series X|S, very soon. Let’s just hope they fare better than the disaster that was the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition.
