Keep Driving – now on console

There’s a certain magic to setting off in a second-hand car with a full tank, a rough map and absolutely no idea how the journey will unfold. Keep Driving captures that feeling with an atmospheric road trip RPG, now available on Xbox Series X|S for £14.99.

Developed and published by YCJY Games, this nostalgic adventure also arrives on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, bringing its early-2000s setting, winding country roads and unpredictable encounters to console players.

A Second-Hand Car And A Summer With No Plans

Set in the early 2000s, Keep Driving begins with the purchase of your first car and the promise of a long summer ahead. When news of a festival on the other side of the country reaches you, it’s time to plot a route and hit the road.

The journey takes place across a procedurally generated pixel-art world, with motorways, dirt tracks and quiet country roads to explore. Along the way, you’ll pick up hitchhikers with their own stories, take on odd jobs and keep your ageing motor in working order.

Your car is more than just a way to get around though. You’ll need to repair it, customise it and make use of upgrades, skills and whatever useful items you’ve stashed in the glovebox. And in a twist, any roadside problems are handled through a turn-based system, turning everyday obstacles – even getting stuck behind a tractor – into challenges that require a bit of thought. How you prepare for the road can make all the difference.

Every Journey Has Its Own Story

Keep Driving isn’t simply about reaching the festival. The people you meet, the decisions you make and the route you take all help shape the experience, with multiple endings waiting to be discovered.

Each run should take you between one and four hours, and returning to the beginning gives you the chance to explore a different path. A soundtrack featuring local indie bands adds to the nostalgic atmosphere, while new locations, road events and an additional ending are among the updates included in the console releases.

Time To Hit The Road

Keep Driving is now available on Xbox Series X|S for ÂŁ14.99 from the Xbox Store, alongside releases on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Having previously launched on Steam in 2025, where it received Very Positive reviews, the road trip RPG now gives console players the chance to discover its winding roads and unexpected encounters.

So, grab the keys, check the oil and see where the summer takes you. The festival might be the destination, but the real story is everything that happens along the way.

Our review is rolling down the road.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
