In this day and age, you can’t escape from a zombie apocalypse. I don’t mean literally escape; I mean the plethora of zombie apocalypses that happen in various media. In Double Kick Heroes on Xbox One, you have yet another impending apocalypse to divert. But here you can defeat it in the most metal way possible; with the power of all things heavy and metal.
With a drum kit hooked up to guns on the back of a Cadillac – yes, really – kick and snare along to the rhythm and defeat the mutant undead chasing you down. Scrolling along the bottom of the screen are the beats. Hit them in time and your car mounted guns will blast away the army of zombies baying for your flesh and blood.
In Double Kick Heroes, you play as the Double Kick Heroes! A band just about ready to get on stage when they notice their crowd have turned into flesh eating zombies. Hot footing it out of the venue, your escape quickly turns into the roadtrip from – and then back towards – Hell.
Double Kick Heroes features a variety of modes including Story, Arcade and a survival mode known as Fury Road. There is both original and licenced music from every corner of the metal genre, so expect to find more than one song stuck in your head for long after you finish playing.
