There are plenty of dungeon crawlers out there, but Horripilant isn’t content with simply throwing monsters at you and handing out loot. Instead, this newly released adventure wants you to fight, mine, solve puzzles, upgrade your gear and descend ever deeper into a nightmare that spans more than 1000 floors.
And somewhere at the bottom of it all? Well, apparently, you need to kill your god.
Horripilant is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, promising a particularly strange blend of incremental gameplay, puzzles, auto-battling and dungeon crawling. It joins a previous Steam drop that is running some seriously positive reviews.

A Dungeon Crawl With A Difference
You awaken as an old knight, battered and confused, trapped deep within an abandoned dungeon with no memory of how you got there. Naturally, things only get worse from there.
Horripilant gradually unfolds through its mix of resource gathering, combat and exploration. Materials can be collected and used to strengthen your equipment, allowing you to push further into the dungeon and face increasingly horrific enemies.
But this isn’t simply about clicking your way through endless battles. Puzzles, strange characters and mysterious locations around your camp all play their part, creating a game that mixes several genres into one particularly unsettling package.
Every Boon Has Its Burden
The deeper you travel, the stronger you become. New upgrades, improved gear and carefully chosen stats can help you survive the horrors ahead, but Horripilant makes it clear that power rarely comes without consequences.
With over 1000 floors to conquer, the loop is simple enough to understand – progress, upgrade, adapt and go again. Whether it stays simple for long is another question entirely.
